50 years of the most glamorous project of the Spanish nautical: Puerto José Banus

José Banus was a visionary right with the model and not fall into the vulgarity of the apartment towers
José Banus was a visionary. Such a statement, unthinkable during the 1960s, became a resounding fact when the harbour enclosure was opened in May 1970... it had been four years since Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe met with architect Noldi Schreck, who was very famous and valued as he had participated in the design and construction of Beverly Hillsvpara. The prince had proposed to him in the past to design the Beach Club of the Marbella Club Hotel before. This, his first work in Spain served him to meet José Banus personally in 1966 and convince him that the future Puerto Banus was not a suitable place to build huge skyscrapers. The American architect proposed to make an Andalusian town with a marina, the first port made by a single architect. Together they managed to give him the touch of sophistication that reached Puerto Banus... José Banus became the most important promoter of residential tourism complexes on the Costa del Sol and the port took its name.

Despite its veteran Puerto Banus is a modern, magnificent installation with services at the highest level
The long-term, social presentation of Puerto José Banus was impressive. The then princes John Charles and Sofia, accompanied, among others, by the Rainier and Gracia Princes of Monaco, came. As a promoter, José Banus' idea was the creation of a port that would become a key engine, an important added value for the tourist, social and economic development of Marbella. Banus was able to choose his enclave, at a privileged coastal point and with a micro climate that make this land a unique and known place all over the world. Year after year, Puerto Banus has become a key destination of nautical tourism, and it is a magnet for the world's leading firms in the luxury shipping and trade industry.
Since its opening, it has also been a meeting point for personalities of all kinds: Royal Houses of all the world, rulers, artists, businessmen, sportsmen... The list of their own names is almost endless: Don Juan de Borbón, Conde de Barcelona, whose sculpture presides the quay of honor from the mouth of the port, King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, his brother Prince Salman, the Kings of Belgium, presidents of government and ministers from all over Europe, the Nobel Prize Camilo José Cela, Julio Iglesias, Lola Flores, Antonio Banderas, Miguel Indurain, Ringo, Star, Miguel, Luis Carda, and Mizon, Maria, Mizon, Mizon, and Mizon, Mizon, and Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, Mizon, (who shot a spectacular video clip on their docks)And many more. Abridged by the Mediterranean and a spectacular Andalusian climate, large and famous luxury yachts such as Navila, Neeveen, Sea Cloude, Blue Cristal, Bravo, Shaft, America, Al Miriyah or Shahnaz, have emphasized, and continue to do so, in one of the best ports in the world, which already obtained the Gold Medal for National Tourist Merit and the prestigious "Gold Mercury International" award, awarded in Rome, for its action in favour of development to economic, cultural and social cooperation.

The advertising campaign in the early years surprised the Spaniards, for their unprecedented quality and aggressiveness
The son and grandson of builders, José Banus Masdeu, was born on January 30, 1906 in the village of La Masó, province of Tarragona. In school until the age of 14, he then began to work with his father in the family business until he was 18. Along with his brother Juan, he formed a company that collaborated in the construction of the Valle de los Caídos, specifically in the viaduct and road of access to it. The family has moved to Madrid and since then its business has grown exponentially. It builds the first houses in the Madrid neighborhoods of La Concepción and El Pilar, where it also built the La Vaguada Shopping Centre. 1953 would be the year in which the company José Banús, S. A., is established, moving its activity to the Costa del Sol in 1962.Between the rivers Verde and Guadaiza, through the company Banús Andalucía la Nueva, S. A. (BANSA), it acquires all the farms that were initially part of the Urbanization Nueva Andalucía, including those that formed parts of the Colonia El Ángel. In this way create one of the first, largest and best tourist complexes of international fame, linking the construction of hotels, luxury single-family homes, casino, golf courses, marina and even a bullring, adapting in Malaga the style of Monte-Carlo, to which José Banus and his wife Pilar Calvo and Sánchez de León were well used.He died in September 1984 in the well-known Madrifuela Clinica de la Luz. During his long life he obtained various public recognitions such as the Merit at Work medal, the great cross to Civil Merit and the gold medal to Tourist Merit. When Pilar Calvo died in 1992, he dedicated his heritage to the creation of a Foundation with the name of both spouses, dedicated to the cultural, sports and tourist promotion of the Costa del Sol.
