Valencia also plays a priority role in the trade relationship between our country and the United States. In 2015, 1.41 million tons were channelled through Valenciaport with American power origin or destination. The Spanish companies exported 947,000 tons to the United States, including goods such as processed construction materials, with 312,000 tons, and cars and their parts, with 122,000 tons.

Valencia is the most used port in trade relations between Spain and economic powers such as China or the United States. It is also the gateway to Spanish foreign trade with neighbouring countries such as Italy or Algeria. In 2015, Valenciaport channeled over 70 million tons of goods with countries on the five continents. This figure makes Valenciaport the most used port by our country's importing and exporting companies in their trade relations with 84 other countries in the world. In this sense, Valenciaport is the gateway to Spanish foreign trade with economic powers such as China or the United States, nearby countries such as Italy or Algeria and 80 other countries on the five continents.

From the analysis of the data of the Harbour Authority of Valencia (discounting transit and taras), it is extracted that Valencia is the main enclosure of Spain for the foreign maritime trade with Italy. In particular, at the end of 2015, trade relations with the Transalpine country totalled 3.19 million tonnes. Thus, the Spanish business fabric exported 1.79 million tons and imported 1.40 million tons from Italy. The goods most exported to Italy were machinery, tools and spare parts with 382,000 tonnes; oils and fats with 315,000 tonnes; and wines, drinks, alcohols and derivatives with 272,000 tonnes. For its part, through Valenciaport, mainly cars and their parts were imported, with 312,000 tonnes; and steel products, with 178,000 tonnes.

The port of Valencia is also the main entrance and exit door of Spain for foreign trade with China, with a movement of about 3 million tons in 2015. Through Valenciaport, our country imported 1.66 million tons from this country, among which are the remaining goods, 692,000 tons; machinery, tools and spare parts, 265,000 tons; and steel products, 200,000 tons. The Spanish business fabric also exported 1.33 million tons to China, mainly products such as processed construction materials, with 568,000 tons; and paper and pasta, with 292,000 tons.
