The emotional act took place in the Navy Museum

The Minister of Defense, María Dolores de Cospedal, presided at the Naval Museum in Madrid over the event of the Spanish Navy Awards, which this year are 74 years old since their creation. These awards are called by the Navy's Chief of Staff Admiral, General Admiral Jaime Muñoz@-@ Delgado, with the aim of promoting interest in and hobby for the sea, encouraging young people's maritime vocations and spreading naval culture. In this edition, the winners of the Spanish Navy Awards in their modalities of the Virgen del Carmen Awards and the Revista General de Marina Awards have been the following:

  • The Book Award has been awarded to Carlos Nicolás Pesado Riccardi for his work 'El Brigadier Juan Gutiérrez de la Concha, and the role of Spanish sailors in the time of the rioplatense revolution (1808- 1814)'.
  • The first prize for painting has been for Maria Dominique Hardy for her work 'Time' and the second prize has been awarded to Hector Dolls García for her work 'Always in our memory'.
  • The Photography award has been given to Javier García Urbión for his photograph 'Hesperides A-32' and to the ship captain Luis Diaz@-@ Bedia for his photograph 'Escolta en el twilight'.
  • With the Diploma of Honor, which the Navy grants in each edition, Manuel Maestro López of the Circle Letras del Mar and Miguel Ángel Lamet Moreno of the COMIMSAR Group have been awarded for their contribution to the promotion of Spanish maritime interests.

  • The 'Alvaro de Bazan' award has been awarded to the ship captain Antonio Barro Ordovás for his work 'Operation Pilgrim and the British military plan to capture Gran Canaria 1941'. The 'Roger de Lauria' award has been awarded to the corbeta captain José María Seijo Casal for his article 'Personal reports or the end of leadership'.
  • The 'Francisco Moreno' award has been awarded to the frigate captain Pedro Márquez de la Calleja for his article 'The transcendence of the anti-submarine war'. The 'Antonio de Oquendo' award has been received by frigate captain Gonzalo Villar Rodríguez for his article 'La genera de Bologna. The new model of Navy officer'.
  • With the Diploma of Honor of this modality, the Admiral Antonio Pintos has been distinguished, in recognition of his long support and collaboration with the Revista General de Marina.
  • The awards for the Best Deportista of the Navy 2016 have been given to the ship's lieutenant Juan Ramón García Gen, the Corporal María Salud Poggio Gutiérrez and the sailor Alan Betancur García.
  • The Minister of Defense has given the Special Mention of the Navy for this edition to the president of the Royal Maritime Club of the Abra and Real Sporting Club of Getxo, Vizcaya, Istanbul King Balta Boogen in recognition of the initiatives developed and for his personal collaboration in the dissemination of the image of the Navy, of which they highlight in particular the offer and delivery of the Flag of Combat to the frigate 'Blas de Lezo'.
