The monotypes are in fashion in our country, which has always been late in the fashion that prevails all over the world. Monotypes are a reasonable way to compete, with an assumed cost... as long as we stop fantasizing millionaires that always end up as it looked from the beginning... wrong. In this line of sustainability, he started what could be and was not in 1983 by the hand of the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, which with Chantiers Beneteau organized the first International Championship of First Class 8 and the sponsorship of the disappeared Gonzacoca, Steam and of its own Beneteau that led in our country the unforgettable Jordi Masdeval and in Galicia Humberto Cervera.

In this competition, in which I had the honour of being the race director, 25 Firsrt Class 8 participated, in what was an informal European Championship... among the participants the "Breitling." with Piluca Presa and Marcial Tigó as patterns... it was that I knew the first sponsorship of the Swiss watch firm in Spain, as far as it was concerned. The experience was again repeated in 1984 with more success if it can be, but, curiously, Baiona did not have the focus of the "First" because it was the Royal Maritime Club of Santander who took, and with much success and success by the way, the renews of Mount Real. The J70 class at international level in general and the European class in particular grant the world class or the European class to clubs not to cities or regions. The Spanish J70 fleet, which is as much as the viguesa, has requested to organize the 2018 European Championship in Galicia.
