The monotypes are in fashion in our country, which has always been late in the fashion that prevails all over the world. Monotypes are a reasonable way to compete, with an assumed cost... as long as we stop fantasizing millionaires that always end up as it looked from the beginning... wrong. In this line of sustainability, he started what could be and was not in 1983 by the hand of the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona, which with Chantiers Beneteau organized the first International Championship of First Class 8 and the sponsorship of the disappeared Gonzacoca, Steam and of its own Beneteau that led in our country the unforgettable Jordi Masdeval and in Galicia Humberto Cervera.

In this competition, in which I had the honour of being the race director, 25 Firsrt Class 8 participated, in what was an informal European Championship... among the participants the "Breitling." with Piluca Presa and Marcial Tigó as patterns... it was that I knew the first sponsorship of the Swiss watch firm in Spain, as far as it was concerned. The experience was again repeated in 1984 with more success if it can be, but, curiously, Baiona did not have the focus of the "First" because it was the Royal Maritime Club of Santander who took, and with much success and success by the way, the renews of Mount Real. Beneteau in the middle of the apogee first brought to the market the First Class 10 and then the 8 that did not have the expected success, as only two First Class 10 were bought and of the 7 managed to place ten units in our country... several of them are currently in power in the Federation Madrilela de Vela. Other projects that failed were the "Galician monotype ', the "Melges 24" or"Fun" Jeanneau among others.

El nivel en los europeo o mundiales J70 es cada vez mayor. La espectacular imagen es del Mundial de San Francisco 2016

The level in European or global J70 is increasing. The spectacular image is the 2016 San Francisco World Cup

The Galician candle already at the beginning of this century bet on the "Platu 25 ″like other areas... the largest World Cup event in Vigo after leaving the Baiona Yates Club to its organization, and the one I had the honour of being the race director: 93 ships from more than 20 countries, highlighted an impressive success, with the support of Caixanova and Estrella Galicia, who were the sponsors... But surprisingly Beneteau let the 25 die, and this was taken advantage of by the manufacturers of J80 who began in the Spanish nautical, to send in parallel with the disappearance of the "Platu." name of success that was even adopted by a well-known brand of elite gin... even though it was later made a poor world in Portosin, which was really a class farewell... The J80 conquered Getxo, Santander, La Coruña, Baiona... and even organized world-wide dyes regats in Sotogrande or in Santander itself... but the stronger they were hitting in our country, the J70 that have been adopted as a class of monotypes by a group of elite of the Spanish heavy candle, case of Gonzalo Araujo, the brothers Pérez Canal, Pablo Iglesias, Pichu Torcida, Chuny and Malalo Bermudez de Castro, Hugo Rocha, Laureano Wizner, Ramón Ojea... have achieved much less and less of a high level of artillery activity and with no more than a high level of time and no more than 15.

Gonzalo Araújo logró situar a su "Salway" en el bronce en el Europeo de Kiel 2016

Gonzalo Araújo managed to place his "Sailway" in bronze in the European Kiel 2016

Gonzalo Araújo has succeeded in placing himself in the last European between the medals and Pichu Torcida participated in San Francisco, in the USA in the 2016 World Cup with great success (he sailed with the "Noticia" along with Luis Martín Cabiedes, Pablo Rosano and Juan González Torcida). In 2016 the class held its continental championship in Kiel where it surrounded the hundred units and it is seen as the fashion class. These were the world rankings:

The J70 class at international level in general and the European class in particular grant the world class or the European class to clubs not to cities or regions. The Spanish J70 fleet, which is as much as the viguesa, has requested to organize the 2018 European Championship in Galicia. This event will bring together over 100 ships and will directly move at least one thousand people of medium-high, high and very high purchasing level, both at the sports and economic level... and also in the non-high season, from the tourist point of view which makes it very desirable... for its high economic impact. The class seems to support the claims of the Viguese, the Spanish fleet... which is no longer so clear where it will be held. Sanxenxo and Vigo are among the candidates, but first they will have to give it to Spain... In favor of Sanxenxo the glamour and the quality of the Sanxenxo Nautico, in the part it vibrates the experience of the Club and that Vigo is a great city. The race of the offices is served... at the moment undecided and a lot of equality among those who choose one option or another.
