The Club de Mar Mallorca held its annual sports dinner last year, at which it awarded the best regatists and piragüists of the entity in 2016. The diplomas were given by the club's president, Borja de la Rosa, and his sports advisor, the double Olympic champion Theresa Zabell, who in his speech encouraged young athletes to work hard to see their dreams fulfilled. The gala, which had more than a hundred attendees, recognized, among others, the results of the Optimist team of the Club de Mar, made up of Antonio Martino, Mario Trave, Anna Crocce, Joan Rodríguez and Fernando Cherio, along with his instructor Jordi Payeras and technical adviser Santiago Cañellas. Manuel Nadal, the club's comodoro, highlighted the participation of this set of young promises for the first time in a Spanish Championship. Other athletes awarded by the Club de Mar Mallorca were: María Company (first of Majorca of the Laser class 4.7), Marc Capó (junior European champion of Snipe), Samantha Mucher (best Alevin pyragüist), Ignacio Palomero (best Benjamin pyragüist), Violenta Buenamente (best junior pyragüista), Mario Trave (tourist revelation, Majorca champion in the class D of Optimist). There was also a special recognition for the Kayak de Mar team that won the bronze medal in the 2016 Spanish championship, for the company Bufete Frau (sponsor of the annual monotypes race) and for the specialized publication Nautical Gazette (for its promotion and promotion of the nautical activity of the Club de Mar). The Club de Mar also released the 2017 scholarships as an award for the effort and dedication shown by the palists Ignacio Palomero, Diego Sánchez and Violenta Buenamente, and the regatists Antonio Martino, Mario Trave and Bosco Sánchez Carvajales.
