Recreation boat enrollments increase 4.18 with leading Catalonia

Sustained growth in the nautical market continues, which in the course of the year shows an increase in the registration of recreational boats of 4.18% over the same period in 2015
The registration of recreational boats in Spain between January and November of this year has grown by 4.18% compared to those recorded in the same months last year. A total of 4,681 recreational vessels have been registered, compared with 4,493 registered between January and November 2015. Of these, 1,234 are for rental-use vessels with 14% growth. These are the data from the Recreation Market Report (January-November 2016), edited by ANEN with the analysis of the information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.
Length figures
The segment between 12 and 16 meters remains the most growing in enrollments (+ 8.1%), enrolling 120 ships compared to 111 of the same period last year. Up to 8 meters, the most demanded by users with a market share of 90.2%, has grown by 4.8% (4,222 enrolments over 4,030 reached in the same period of 2015). The ranges between 8 and 12 fall in this period by -3.9%, with 295 enrolments compared to 307 between January and November 2015. Ships over 16 meters are also down by -2.2%, enrolling a unit less than last year (44 enrollments as far as the year goes).
By type of vessel
The water bikes are the market with the highest growth (15.6%), enrolling 999 units compared to 864 registered between January and November 2015. The most demanded motor boats (44.3%) grow by 6.6% in enrollments, with 2,074 records compared to 1,946 in the same period last year. The candle falls back on the accumulated until November (-1.1) with 282 enrollments over 285 last year. The registration of pneumatic vessels with a decrease of -9.9% for folding and -1.6% for semi-rigid vessels remains unrecovered.
The rental market
It grows by 14% in the period under review, with 1,234 enrolments recorded between January and November 2016 compared to 1,082 in the same period in 2015. The boats over 16 meters for rental use are the most growing in enrolment (35.7%) between January and November of this year. It is followed by the segment between 8 and 12 meters that have an increase of 20.2%, then there are ships less than 8 meters (including water bikes) that have 14.5% more registration for rental use and continue to hold the highest market share (86.5%). With a negative sign, the boats for rent are located between 12 and 16 meters that fall by -13% in their enrollments.
By communities, Catalonia the leader
Catalonia remains the Autonomous Community with the largest share of the nautical market (21.2%). Between January and November 2016, 992 vessels were registered in the four Catalan provinces, a 12.72% increase over the same period in 2015 in which 880 ships were registered. Andalusia with a market share of 19.61% is located as the second Autonomous Community with the most demand for recreational boats, but with a decrease of its enrollments of -6% (918 compared to 973 registered between January and November 2015, to 878 registered for the year. Third, the Balearic Islands, with 16.75% market share, has a growth of 10.73%, enrolling 784 vessels compared to 708 registered in the same period last year.
