Concern and malaise in ANEN over a bill submitted to the Catalan Parliament

Junts pel Sí and the CUP, have submitted a bill in the Parliament of Catalonia on 28 November, which would have a major impact on the sector, according to ANEN. It is very serious that the current situation should attempt to punish the sector more and more.
In the light of the bill submitted by Junts pel Sí and the CUP for the creation of a tax on the non-productive assets of legal persons, ANEN has intensified its round of contacts with the various political forces of the Parliament. On Monday, November 28, a bill was registered in the Parliament of Catalonia, promoted by the parties Junts pel Si and the CUP, for the application of a new tax that would tax the non-productive assets of legal persons (private buildings, ships of 8 and more meters of length, motor vehicles of power of 200 horses and aircraft) that are in the name of companies, and that are not used for productive activity but for private uses. The entry into force of this levy would be scheduled for 2017 and would have a maximum rate of 1%. The tax base shall be calculated on the total sum of all non-productive assets registered under the same name, with a minimum exemption of EUR 500,000 or EUR 100,000 if it does not include any building. The approval of the measure would be a new obstacle to investment in our sector and a further tax penalty, in addition to the already unfair registration tax that reduces our competitiveness both within and outside Spain. In view of the possibility of this proposal being adopted, ANEN is already working to move the unrest and disagreement to the various political forces, which have been requested to support in the meetings we are holding, in order to achieve a more just and favourable tax treatment for the growth of our sector.
