The RORC Transatlantic Race is already being prepared in Marina Lanzarote

The lanzaroteños Carlos Hernández and Oliver Herrera protagonists of the ROC in their home, Lanzarote.
The third edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race is already being prepared in Marina Lanzarote for its departure on Saturday, November 26.
It will be 2995 mn that separate the exit line in Arrecife until the arrival line in Port Louis on the Caribbean island of Granada.
In this race you will measure impressive boats like the MOD 70 and the Maxis fighting to beat speed records. On board there will be relevant figures from the transoceancia candle, where two canaries on board the MOD 70 Maserati: the major Oliver Herrera and the lanzaroteño Carlos Hernández, who sailed the last edition of the VOR by Spanish ship Mapfre.
The Leopard will try to beat the record.
The Leopard has achieved five transatlantic records in the last nine years and has crossed the Atlantic 12 times; with this race, Captain Chris Sherlock, he will have crossed the Atlantic 30 times. The Leopard 3 is able to beat the current record for monocascos of the RORC Transatlantic Race, established by the Finot 100 of Jean- Paul Riviere, the Nomad IV, which he achieved in the last race a time of 10 days, 07 hours, 06 mins and 59 sés.
"The RORC record is one we don't yet have and we want to add it to our list of hits," said Chris Sherlock of the Leopard. "We are finalizing the crew, which will be made up of Leopard crew with experience in the America's Cup, Volvo Ocean Race and Olympic, and also of eight more people, who have a great experience in race and a great desire to cross the Atlantic. This combination seems to work very well and this makes the environment on board fantastic.
The Maserati MOD70
Giovanni Soldini's MOD70 Filling will be the first multicasco to cross the Atlantic with its new Filling model, and will be as a test test for the international team.
Soldini has more than 25 years of experience in ocean races and is probably the most laureated Italian navigator in high seas races of all time after winning the Around Alone, Quebec- Saint Malo, OSTAR and Transat Jacques Vabre. Soldini has completed more than 40 ocean crossings and since 2011 has been the captain of the VOR70 Maserati, establishing records on the Cadiz- San Salvador and the New York- San Francisco Gold Route route. However, the MOD70 Maserati is a new project created only for this year.
The innovative "failing flyer"
The Maverick Infiniti 46, patronized by Oliver Cotterell, will be one of the smallest ships in the race, but its innovative design makes this ship able to reach a high speed. DSS foils, like the wings of an aircraft, stand out from the side of the hull, pushing it and keeping it right. The Maverick also has a tilted keel and the combination of both allows the ship to navigate faster than the wind speed, under certain conditions.
"The speeds we are achieving with the Filling in the Maverick has no precedent in a 46-foot monocasco, but it is actually a very stable feeling. The DSS foils not only keep the ship stabilized, but also lift its bow so that we can navigate through the waves of the Atlantic, keeping the ship surprisingly dry. The Maverick was designed to compete in long-distance high-sea races. From the beginning, the preparation for the CAT.1. races was incorporated into its design. The ship has airtight screens and has been built with the required equipment from its start."
ORGANIZATIONS:
• Founded in 1925, the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) became famous for its biennial race "Fastnet Race" and for the international team event, the Admiral's Cup. They organize an annual series of national races from their base in Cowes, and also coastal races such as the RORC Easter Challenge and the IRC National Championships in the Strait of Solent.• The RORC works with other clubs to promote their races, working in organization and marketing. The RORC Caribbean 600, based in Antigua and the first high seas race in the Caribbean, was an immediate success, and in 2014 the RORC expanded its prospects to create the new RORC TRansatlantic Race from Lanzarote to Granada in November.
• In cooperation with the French Club, UNCL, RORC is responsible for the IRC, the world's main international race system. The IRC rating rules are governed by the RORC Rating Office in Lymington, United Kingdom and the UNCL Centre de Calcul in Paris, France.
• The RORC Rating Office is the technical centre of the Royal Ocean Racing Club and is recognized worldwide as the centre of measurement par excellence
