The Society of Maritime Medicine met in Sotogrande

The next National Days will be held in Ibiza in October 2017, where it is expected to continue with the participation of experts and the participation of stakeholders in these topics to contribute to the improvement of maritime medicine, sea workers and all those related to activities
The Spanish Society of Maritime Medicine has held its annual scientific meeting. Additional practical activities were carried out in the Hospital Hyperbaric Chamber of Benalmádena and in water rescue in Sotogrande related to graduate students of the Master of Maritime Health and University Expert in Subaquatic and Náutico-sports Medicine of the University of Cadiz, in addition to an ISAF parallel course on first aid, safety and survival at sea.
The health axes focused on diving and sports nautical at two round tables. There were also free posters and communications. The main conclusions of the first table on scientific justification for the request for reducing coefficients for the retirement age of professional divers were:
- In relation to the studies presented there are no significant differences in relation to the general population subject to the same general occupational risks as noise etc. and divers. Except in specific cases of dysbaric accidents caused by underwater conditions. In relation to the gender variable, women's participation in professional diving is limited, despite the fact that their contribution has been documented for over 2000 years.
The afternoon table devoted to sport-sports highlights the importance of medical training and health control of sports crews, as well as the need for regulatory adaptation for high-risk transvestites, which should be homogenized as they pass in practice wide restrictions on the absence of standards. We have the valuable participation of Moroccan experts. Free communications on port risk prevention, musculo-skeletal changes in sea workers, physiotherapy and risk-taking behaviour of fishermen, in which also Moroccan doctors participated, were also very interesting.
