The Canaria Matilde Asian appointed Secretary of State for Tourism
The member of the People's Party for Las Palmas and former President of the Economy and Economic Affairs with the European Union of the Government of the Canary Islands and former director of the Canary Islands Special Zone, Matilde Asain, has been appointed Secretary of State for Tourism and thus becomes the Canadian representative of the new Executive of Mariano Rajoy. The new Secretary of State has told Efe that this appointment is a "great responsibility" and also a "huge pride and professional challenge," since "the first sector of the Spanish economy is put in his hand."
Julio Gómez Pomar continues as Secretary of State
The Minister of Development, Iñigo de la Serna, has ratified in his post the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Julio Gomez-Pomar, which will continue as well as the Department's "number two," according to the Ministry. Gomez-Pomar was appointed Secretary of State for Infrastructure in October 2014, replacing Rafael Catalá, who in turn was appointed Minister of Justice. Until then, he had been President of Renfe since January 2012. Doctor of Economic Sciences and MPA (Master in Public Administration) at Harvard University, and 59 years old, he was also State Secretary of the Public Administration between 2000 and 2004, and director of Inhealth. His wife is Eva Miquel, Head of State Ports Communication.
