50 edition of the Nautical Week of Alicante with a candle and rowing format, from 3 to 18 December
The 50th edition of the 2016 Nautical Week, organized by the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante, to be held from 3 to 18 December, continues to make progress in its preparations to offer the best on this special occasion as those of its golden weddings. For the moment, and one month after the tests, the rate of inscriptions is good so it is estimated to meet the expectations in this very significant race for the centenary Sicantine club. The Nautical Week of Alicante has always been an important event in the national sailing calendar and in the Valencia Community. The good wind conditions, an unbeatable race field and a magnificent ground organization are three of the keys to the success of this race, which with three sports disciplines, two headquarters and more than 700 athletes competing in Sailing (Children, Light and Cruise), Fisheries and Remo becomes one of the most complete tests of the national sports scene. As we were saying, the Light Sailing and Children's Sailing will enter the scene on December 3, 4 and 5, competing in three fields of race planned in the facilities of La quarry. The Fishing will be the second activity that coincides with the Light Sailing on Sunday, December 4, will fight the competition for five hours and five nautical miles from the headquarters of the Real Club de Regatas de Alicante. The Remo will come into action on Saturday, December 10 with a participation of over 200 remers already registered. And on December 18 it will close this 50th anniversary of the 2016 Nautical Week the Cruise Sailing with a holiday end in which it will highlight the traditional return to the island of Tencarca.
The classic Alicantina has a similar format to the Abanca Week that organize clubs of Porto, Vigo, Baiona, Marín, Pontevedra, Sada, La Coruña and Gijón, under the slogan "sailing & rolling," as it unites its light and heavy sailing competitions, those of the rowing. This type of very fashionable competition in the 19th and early 20th century in British waters, has its highest exponents in Spain in the Nautical Week of Alicante and in the Abanca Week in the Atlantic.
