La Voz Digital, reports that following the plan of action that the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard is carrying out to control the illegal fishing of tuna in the Mediterranean, a recreational boat was inspected 13 miles from the coast of the town of Vinarós, occupied by four crew members who were carrying out high sports fishing. After verification of the ship's documentation and the corresponding authorisations, the catch was checked, six copies of bluefin tuna between 30 and 40 cm were found, weighing a total of 5.5 kg. They were apprehended and issued a record of alleged violation of the State Maritime Fisheries Act, in accordance with the decision of 27 June 2016 temporarily prohibiting the capture, holding on board and landing of bluefin tuna in the recreational manner. The apprehended gender was handed over to a non-profit charity. This action plan was already successful on 8 October with the detection, by the Maritime Service agents, of another violation of the same regulations in the marina of Oropesa, when the crew of a recreational ship that had just been docked, prepared for high-speed sports fishing, in which they carried, in a large refrigerator, two pieces of bluefin tuna already cut to a total weight of about 52 kg. The action was carried out by agents of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Castellón.
