The nautical sector calls for the promotion of the adequacy of taxation with Europe

From the employer ANEN (National Association of Nautical Enterprises), its general secretary Carlos Sanlorenzo points to the potential of the nautical sector to generate economic growth and employment: "The nautical sector is currently being a recipient of new businesses for many entrepreneurs who are targeting the nautical. But if we are to continue on this path, we need to continue to modernise our legislative framework, eliminating bureaucratic and tax obstacles such as the registration tax that records the purchase of a recreational boat of more than 8 meters in length with 12% of its price, which together with VAT is 33% more, in no country in the world there is this tax that places us at a clear disadvantage in the national and international market.".
The nautical sector which in the last two years has been able to contain the progressive fall of its market as a result of the crisis, calls on the newly established Ministry of Development, responsible for the powers of the recreational nautical, to take up the momentum of the legislative measures under way that have been paralyzed during this year of the current government, and to support a match of the taxation of our sector with the European taxation of the nautical.
The 115,000 jobs (direct and indirect) generated by the nautical sector and the €5.690 billion of productivity that it brings to our economy depend in large part on the fact that the regulations being developed in the previous legislature - as are the professional powers to the titles for the government of recreational boats - enter into force immediately.
Since the crisis hit this sector strongly in 2008, in the last two years the nautical recreation has been able to stop, still very timid, the large fall of almost 70% of its volume. Without a doubt, the entry into force of the Royal Decree on nautical degrees (October 2014), which modernized and adapted our titles to those of countries in our European environment, or the Maritime Navigation Act (July 2014), which for the first time gave its own identity to the recreational nautical, provided an important impetus for the development of the Spanish nautical sector, both at the national level and for achieving a better level of competitiveness in European markets. In the area of taxation, the elimination of the registration tax on the purchase of recreational craft for the use of rental (nautical charter) has also led to a historical take-off of this market, which in 2014 grew by almost 60%.
