The Balearic Nautics Celebrate their Assembly in El Club Marítimo Molinar as a sample support to this entity
They highlight their long history and commitment to sport, and call on the authorities to ensure their survival.
The Association of Nautical Clubs of the Balearic Islands, formed by 24 non-profit sports entities representing 20,000 associated families, today held its annual regular assembly at the headquarters of the Club Marítimo del Molinar, in support of the process of renewal of the period of the concession of this facility that is currently being processed by the Harbour Authority of the Balearic Islands. The members of the Association unanimously adopted a new declaration of support for the Maritime of the Molinar, founded in 1917 and considered by all of them as an example of the sports and social work carried out by the nautical of the Islands. Miguel Suñer president of the association declared "This club is a symbol and an immaterial heritage of Spanish recreational nautical. Not only for its long history, but for the commitment it has always shown to its neighborhood and the promotion of sport among young people.".
At the same time, it called on the authorities, and in particular the Ports of the Balearic Islands, to be sensitive to the work of this entity and to ensure its survival under conditions that allow it to continue to organize races and to have sports equipment and its sailing school. Suñer made these statements just after he was re-elected president of the Association of Nautical Clubs of the Balearic Islands, with the vote of all the partners, who also gave the approval to the sound accounts of the organization and to the budgets designed for the financial year 2017.
The Association Assembly also addressed the EU's ruling which allegedly called into question the policy of extending the concession deadlines promoted by the Government and which has involved an investment commitment of EUR 1,670 million throughout Spain. The association's manager, Rafael Palmer, explained that a recent report prepared by the Spanish Confederation of Nautical Clubs Associations (CEACNA) confirms "what was already known," which is that "nautical clubs are excluded from this alleged case law" and that "Spanish legislation, which at no point provides for automatic renovations, is not affected by any European judgment."
The 2016 sports season has been "historic" for the nautical clubs of the Balearic Islands, which have achieved in the JJOO of Rio, with the gold medal of the Piragüist Marcus Cooper; in the championships of the world, with the gold of Paula Barceló in 470, the silver of María Bover and Clara Llabrés in 420 or the bronze of Pere Ponsetí in Laser, and in national tests. Joaquín González Devesa, president of the Balear Vela Federation (FBV), confirmed in the assembly the progression of the athletes of this discipline, who currently occupy the second position of the national ranking, only behind the Canary Islands. The federal leader congratulated the clubs, without which, he said, "the sport of the candle would not exist in our country."
