Recreation boat enrollments have grown by 4.3% in the period from October 2016

The registration of recreational boats in Spain, in the period enero-October 2016, has grown by 4.30% compared to those recorded in the same months last year. In total, 4,510 recreational boats have been registered, compared with 4,325 from January to October 2015. Of these, 1,220 have been enrolled for rental use, a 16 per cent growth over the same period in 2015. These are the data from the Recreation Market Report (energy-October) 2016, edited by ANEN with the analysis of the information provided by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy.

In terms of length, the 12-16 m segment continues to record the highest growth in enrolment (+ 6.4%), enrolling 117 vessels compared to 110 in the same period last year. The segment up to 8 meters, with the highest market share (90.30%), has grown by 4.9%, with 4,072 enrolments over the 3,880 reached in the same period of 2015. The ranges between 8 and 12 meters are the only segment that loses enrollments in the year - 278 compared to 292 of registered until October 2012 -, which represents a decrease of -4.8%. There is no variation in the segment of ships over 16 meters that record 43 enrollments as last year.

By type of boat, water bikes are the market with the highest growth (17.9%), enrolling 990 units compared to 840 units registered between January and October 2015. The motor ships, the most demanded (44%), grow by 5.7% in enrollments, with 1,978 records compared to 1,872 reached between January and October 2015. The candle changes its sign and records a slight increase of 0.7% of its enrolments until October (274 over 272 last year). The pneumatic vessels are those that do not manage to reassemble and have a decrease of -9,5% in the case of the folding; and -2,5% in the registration of the semi-rigid. The rental market is growing by 16% in the period under review, becoming the market with the highest growth potential of the nautical market.

Catalonia, Andalusia and the Balearic Islands continue to lead the nautical market in Spain until October

Catalonia maintains the largest share of the nautical market (21.69%) between January and October 2016. A total of 978 vessels have been registered in the four Catalan provinces, a growth of 11.77 per cent over the same period in 2015 in which 875 vessels were registered.

Andalusia with a market share of 19.47% is located as the second Autonomous Community with the most demand for recreational boats. But the number of enrolments (-7.17%) in all the Andalusian provinces falls, from the 941 reached between January and October 2015 to the 878 recorded for the year.

Third, the Balearic Islands accounts for 16.52% of the national nautical market in this period and has a growth of 9.72%, enrolling 745 vessels compared to 679 registered in the same period last year.
