The Club de Remo Vilaxoan has proclaimed itself the winner of the Galicia de Bateles Cup that was held in the town Pontevedresa de Marín, which has been used to close the sports part of the Abanca Week, which after month and a half of sailing and rowing competitions to bring together more than 500 ships and a thousand athletes, in races held in Vigo, Porto, Sada, Gijón and Marín.

The Arosano club managed to impose itself on three of the five categories of the Galicia Cup: Women's Promises, Women's Absolute and Cadet. The other two oros were for the Coruñés club of Rianxo in children and Santa Eugenia de Ribeira in the same province in youth. Following the great success of the Mannese call, the Galician Federation of Remo has decided to celebrate on the same stage and within the week Abanca 2017, the Galicia Cup of Olympic Remo that will organize as the fixed bank rowing, the Remo Club Ria de Marín, the Real Club of Mar de Aguete and the Club Marítimo de Vigo, under the federal umbrella.

The conditions of the Rias de Pontevedra, before a lot of public gathered on the Paseo Antonio Blanco, who enjoyed the high level of the 10 female and 15 male crews, were excellent. The young women's promises were broken, and the first gold for Vilaxoan fell. Chapela was made with silver and Ribeira with bronze. Then when they were five in the afternoon the absolute women competed twice as far as the younger women: two thousand meters... and new gold for the Arousan club, ahead of Samertolameu de Moaña and the Vila de Cangas. After the girls the male children competed, and it was the Club de Remo de Rianxo who scored the gold, the silver was for Bueu and the bronze for Vilaxoan, which was once again imposed between the cadets in front of Rianxo and the Viguese of Virxen da Guía. As a close in youth the crew of the Nautico de Ribeira took the first square, the second was Bueu and the third Samertolameu.

The Galicia de Bateles Cup with the Grand Prix Concello de Marín in play, will put point and end to the Abanca Week 2016 in the Ría de Pontevedra, after month and a half of competitions held in the waters of Galicia, Asturias and northern Portugal in which have participated about five hundred ships with a thousand crew members on board, which make the Abanca Week as the reference to the state level, regarding the events "healing & rolling." At 4: 30 in the afternoon, the judges will give the gunshot out to this Galicia Cup in which will be the 25 crews classified, in the "previous" that took place last Saturday in the waters of the Ria de Arousa with the flag Porto de Vilagarcía, in which there were no less than 48 boats of all Galicia. The event is organized by the Galician Remo Federation, the Remo Ria de Marín Clube, the Real Club de Mar de Aguete and the Organizing Committee of the Abanca Week.

The clubs of Vilaxoán and Samertolameu will be the most representative in the very finale of Marin: 4 boats each. In female promises they will fight for the Vilaxoan, Samertolameu, Riveira, Questiorio and Chapela victory; while in no way will Vilaxoán, Samertolameu, Questiorio, Cangas and Tiran do it.

In the male categories no club will participate in all categories, for while in children they will be (Vilaxoán, Rianxo, Ares and Robaleira de La Guardia), in cadets they will be (Vilaxoán, Samertolameu, Rianxo, Virxen de A Guía de Vigo and Mecos de O Grove). The young people who will fight for the Galicia Cup are Samertolameu, Riveira, Chapela, Bueu and Mecos. Young people and women will compete over 2,000 metres, while children and women's promises will compete in a thousand meters and cadets in 1,500. The race area, located between the Military Naval School and the Port of Marin, which is named after Paseo Mayor Blanco, which is an incomparable framework for this type of competition, with a perfect and wide view of the race field, of great functionality, making it very comfortable for the many spectators who will witness this Galicia-Concello de Marín Cup

After the competitions, at seven in the afternoon, it will be held in the auditorium of the Illa de Tambo Institute of the Concello of Marin, the Galician Remo Gala in which a total of 25 awards will be delivered, in which it will be its second edition. The pieces have been handcrafted by the vineyard Alfredo Iglesias, the grandson of the artisan who was a fundamental part of the entire ornament of the Military Naval School in the early 1940s. The awards are the clubs of Ribadeo, Robaleira- La Guardia, San Felipe- Ferrol, Miño-Tui, Perillo-Oleiros- A Coruña, Vilaxoán-Vilagarcía, Rianxo, Cabo de Cruz- Boiro, Tui, Cedeira, Ares, Mandeo and Marín; as well as individually Rodrigo Conde, Angela Vázquez, Jesús Valverde, Franco Cobas, Arturo Abruñedo and Jesús González. To highlight among those quoted Rodrigo Conde who was world champion sub- 23 this season.
