The Spanish multinational Acerinox has chosen the Port of Motril to export some of the steel coils it produces in its factory in the Campo de Gibraltar. The Tamaran shipping company, of the logistic group JSV, this week has carried out a first shipment of three containers for a customer from Switzerland, via Alicante and Genoa. The goods, until their final destination, have been transported by truck. It is expected that before the end of the year there will be a direct maritime route between Motril and the Italian port, as already announced by the company, so that "costs will be reduced and exports of such products will be encouraged." JSV, which once a week with the vessel Johanna Schepers, has patented a type of container specially designed for the transport of any type of heavy goods, including steel products. The President of the Harbour Authority, Francisco Álvarez de la Chica, values that a multinational of the prestige of Acerinox, which manufactures 3.5 million tons of steel, has bet on Motril, "which shows our ability and that things are doing well."JSV, since it was established in the Port of Motril in December 2015, has moved through the dársena of the Azucenas more than 2,100 containers, mainly drinks, oil, construction materials and food products, to which now steel coils are added.
