For the Canary Islands of the sector it is important to regulate the tourist fishing from Madrid

The Board of Directors of the public business body Ports Canarios has approved to request the Government of the Canary Islands to regulate the promotion and support of fishing, aquaculture and fisheries tourism in the Anteproject of Maritime Fisheries, Marisking and Aquaculture. In the same way, Canarian Ports will ask the regional government to take all the actions necessary for the final adoption of this Law (now Antiproject) and the adoption of the regulations that will develop it. The tourism sector is one of the main economic engines of the Canary Islands, while fishing has great potential with the possibility of opening the tourism sector to other types of fishing-related offers, some of which have already been introduced in other autonomous communities, such as fishing or marine tourism, aquaculture tourism and fishing-tourism. These types of projects and activities have an enormous potential for growth and generate new income routes, stable employment, as well as a greater dynamism that can improve the quality of life of the fisheries sector, revaluing fisheries resources and knowledge of work at sea, making it possible to disseminate their own traditions and trades. In this regard, in view of the fact that the fishing activity is closely linked to the ports and given the commitment of the Canary Ports to the fishermen, the cofradies and their vessels in the provision of services, the public body considers it necessary for the Canary Islands to introduce the relevant legislative changes in its legislation to collect and consider these new activities that may arise around the fishing, promoting the Preliminary draft of the Law on Maritime Fisheries, Marking and Aquaculture of the Canary Islands.
