Jávea points to the program of the Ecomar and Coca-Cola of cleaning of the coast
The ECOMAR Foundation, which chairs Theresa Zabell and Coca-Colase, moved to the Alicantine town of Jávea, in the heart of the Natural Park of Cabo de la Nao, to carry out its fifth coast cleaning in 2016 with the collaboration of the Nautical Club of Jávea and the CEIP Port of Xàbia. The 45 volunteer schoolchildren, aged between 10 and 12, were able to collect 167 kilos of waste from the beach of la Grava, as well as from the hatch of the fishing port, where the fishing fleet of the boqueron is currently tied pending the lifting of the gate. It has been four hours in which children have accompanied Theresa Zabell, who has taught them about the importance of waste recycling, as well as the need to do every day that our planet is more sustainable and cleaner in order to enjoy a better quality of life. They accompanied the Olympic bicampeona, Isabel Moreno, director of the school, Doris Courcelles, environmental councilman, Luis Nogueroles, manager of the Náutico Club of Jávea and Javier Momparlet, sports director of the Alicantino club. Theresa Zabell congratulated the City Council of Xabia for the quality of cleaning that has its main beach, the Grava, in which it is noted that the cleaning is daily, and stressed to the school director the great involvement that the students have had in this action.
"Ecomar and Coca Cola have faced their fifth coast cleaning this year in Xábia, an area heavily punished this summer by a large forest fire that has left the area very skillful. I would like to congratulate the City Council of Xábia for its involvement in the daily cleaning of the beach of la Grava, where it has cost us a lot to find waste. I would also like to congratulate the children of the CEIP Port de Xábia for their involvement in this action. We have rarely met with such enthusiasm. From the Ecomar Foundation we are not tired of remembering that everything we do to the land is paid by the sea as it has been this year in Xábia with the remains of the fire, which have ended in the sea after the area suffered the torrential rains of this summer. I would also like to appeal to the Fishermen 'Cofradies of the Spanish coast to cooperate in the cleaning of each of their areas" (Theresa Zabell)
Ecomar and Coca-Cola commitment
Coastal cleaning is an initiative led and created by the Ecomar Foundation for more than a decade and driven by Coca-Cola, which aims to raise awareness among the smaller ones of the importance of avoiding to dirty our seas and coasts, as well as to create a network of volunteers to collect the waste that already exists in them and, in addition, to insist on the importance of recycling waste by depositing them in the appropriate containers. These actions are part of the commitment of Coca- Cola to the environment. A commitment that Coca- Cola develops through its environmental strategy that includes more than 80 actions grouped into four key axes: water, climate, packaging and sustainable agriculture. As on previous occasions, Coca- Cola will reward these actions from the small volunteers of the ECOMAR Foundation and, one more year, will transform the waste collected into kilos of Coca- Cola products that will be destined for the Food Bank.
