Recreation boat enrollments grow in Spain by 4.39 until September

The registration of recreational craft in Spain, in the period enero-September 2016, has recorded an increase of 4.39%, keeping the accumulated year above the data achieved in the same period of 2015. From January to September, 4,332 recreational boats have been registered, compared to 4,150 in 2015 (energy-September). The month of September in particular has been very positive, with a growth of 31.67% compared to the same month of 2015. 2016 ENERO-SEPTEMBER DEPORTIVE MATRICULATIONS

  • The segment between 12 and 16 meters is still the one with the best results in 2016, with a growth of 9.6%, enrolling 114 vessels compared to 104 of the same period last year.
  • The registration of ships up to 8 meters, the most demands with a market share of 90.3%, also grow. They go from the 3,725 registered between January and September 2015 to the 3,910 reached until September of this year.
  • The ranges between 8 and 12 meters remain negative in this period, with a decrease of -3.9%, with 270 enrolments compared to 281 last year. The ships over 16 also lose registration (-5%), from 40 registered between January and September 2015 to 38 this year.
  • Water bikes experience the highest growth (16.6%), enrolling 968 units compared to 830 units between January and September 2015.
  • Motorboats also grow (7.3%), with 1,901 enrollments reached until September of this year on the 1,771 registered last year.
  • The candle also has a slight decrease in this period but less than the period enero-August 2016, falls -0.4%, registering 259 enrollments, only one less than in the period enero-September 2015.
  • Folding pneumatic vessels also lose enrollments, until September they fall by -10.4% (485 enrollments compared to 541 in the same period last year). Semi-rigid pneumatic vessels also in negative, fall by -3.9%, enrolling 719 vessels compared to 748 vessels reached between January and September last year.
  • The rental market grows by 13.79% in the period under review, and remains one of the upward options for enjoying recreational navigation.
  • Between January and September 2016, 1,180 recreational boats have been registered in Spain for use of rent, out of the 1,037 units registered in the same period of 2015.
  • The boats over 16 meters, with a growth of 33.3% of their rent registration are the ones that have grown the most in this period. But the boats are still less than 8 meters long the most demands by users also to rent, with a market share of 87% and a growth in this period of 14.2%.
  • Catalonia with a market share of 21.72% occupies the first position on the market for recreational craft in Spain between January and September 2016. A total of 941 vessels have been registered in the four Catalan provinces, an increase of 13.37 per cent over the same period in 2015 in which 830 vessels were registered.
  • Andalusia with a market share of 19.51% is located as the second Autonomous Community with the most demand for recreational boats. However, the number of enrolments in the Andalusian provinces as a whole falls from 892 between January and September 2015 to 845 this year.
  • Third, the Balearic Islands accounts for 16.90% of the national nautical market and has a 8.12% increase in its enrolment in this period, with 732 vessels registered compared to 677 registered in the same period last year.
