Didac Costa has sailed from Barcelona and goes to the French port of Les Sables d'Olonne, where on November 6 it will take the exit of the Vendée Globe, the return to the world alone, without scales or assistance.

"I am satisfied, because we close a long stage not without stands and we literally approach the exit of the Vendée Globe," said the Barcelona navigator shortly before going on board the One Planet One Ocean. "I feel like sailing and having good feelings with the ship again," he added. In these 1,500 miles between Barcelona and Les Sables d'Olonne Didac Costa hopes to review the good operation of the ship and to put in place two new candles, the only ones that will premiere in this Vendée Globe.

After the accident 12 days ago by a ray that damaged much of the electronics, the One Planet One Ocean team has worked hard to put the ship in a position to transfer to Les Sables d'Olonne as soon as possible. "The ship is about to make this journey, but not yet to face a whole round the world," Costa said.

With Didac Costa he sails part of his team and a photographer, who will take advantage of the journey to make a picture bank of the Barcelona navigator aboard the former Kingfisher, the historic ship of Ellen McArthur.

Costa is the fourth Spanish navigator to participate in the Vendée Globe. Previously, the missing José Luis de Ugarte (1992), Javier Sansó (2000 and 2012) and Unai Basurko (2008). Of them only De Ugarte managed to finish the race, considered the Everest of the candle. The end of the world is the great goal of Didac Costa, as he reiterated yesterday at the time of release.

A total of 29 sailors from 10 different countries will participate in this eighth edition of the Vendée Globe.
