A total of 30 ships of the Catamaran and Cruise classes took part in the oldest and longest test of the national light sailing calendar, the Ascense alGuadalquivir, in which a Poniente of 8 to 12 knots of intensity that was made to beg allowed to complete 18 of the 38 nautical miles of the route to Coria el Río, the end of the first and only punctuable stage. In the same was imposed in real time (2: 01.30) the catamaran Formula 18 of the regatists of the organizing club Antonio Cantillana and José Álvarez.

The fleet, which was leaving at 9: 00 hours from Sanlúcar de Barrameda to reach the coastal town after 17: 00, was then grouped to access the capital of Spain through the lock. The schedule was met to reach the Nautico's facilities, where the trophies were delivered as a closing point during the gala dinner. It was attended by, among others, the president of the Sevilla Náutico Club and the RC.N. de Sanlúcar, Enrique Castelló and Jorge García Martínez; the general secretary for the Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, Antonio Fernández; the naval commander of Sevilla, Francisco Javier Bugatto; the president of the Chamber of Mareantes of Seville and the Atarazanas Museum Foundation, José Manuel Conde; and the general director of the Los Remedios District, Ana Risquet.

As for the protagonists, who saw how the exit was postponed in the absence of the wind and had to wait until the buoy 32, at the height of the Minimum Island, to begin the race, the absolute victory in the Catamaran class, after applying the compensation for rating, was for the Hobie Cat 14 of the Sevillian Felipe Parejo Palop (Club Náutico Sevilla), which used a time of 2: 17.30 to complete the tour. He was followed in the classification Interseries the Hobie 16 of Luis and Fernando Barquín (Escuela de Vela Islantilla), completing the podium the SL16 of the Hispanics Pilar González de la Madrid (E.V. Islantilla) and Antonio Cueto (Club Náutico Sevilla).

In the Cruise class the podium of two editions was repeated. In this way the 'Idefix' of Miguel Ángel Cervantes (Club Marítimo de Mazagon) achieved a new triumph, the fifth in his palmarés in an Ascendación del Guadalquivir, the 51 edition of which covered 2: 22.10. He was escorted in the positions of privilege by another classic of the test, the 'Enriaer-Puerto de Indias' of Maxi Cruz (Club Ademar de Mazagon), with 4.31 delay; and the 'Caronte' of the brother Jose and Alberto Medel, a ship with a grympola of the Club Náutico Sevilla that remained 5: 47 from the winner after the compensation of times per rating.

It should be noted that the forced shortening of the tour due to the lack of wind in the 2016 Ascense, which ventured to perform unofficially the windsurfing table of the RS class: X of the Sevillian Fernando González of Madrid Trueba, did not allow the record of the test, set since 1988 at 4 hours and 25 minutes by a catamaran. The 500 euro cash prize to award the achievement will therefore be accumulated for the next edition.
