The intentions of the City Council of Madrid, have set the Madrid rowing to war

From the Club de Remo Madrid Velocity, supported by the rest of the Madrid rowing clubs: Club de Remo Retiro66, Club de Remo Lago and Remo Versailles, support has been requested from the Spanish Federation of Remo to prevent the disappearance of the rowing. The City Council of Madrid wants to carry out a project of Naturalization of the Manzanares River in its passage through the city that would affect the School and Club of rowing as it consists of the total opening of the dams of the canal with the consequent substantial reduction of the water flow, preventing the development of the sports activity in a regular way.

The Manzanares River is the only navigable water sheet in Madrid Capital with a distance of more than 300 meters in length, and despite not having the ideal conditions for navigation it has at least allowed to develop the sports activity of the School and Club de Remo and to improve the quality of the sport in Madrid achieving greater interest, presence and dissemination of the rowing in the city. It is also the place where most sports promotion activities are carried out as well as local and autonomous rowing competitions in Madrid, including sports workshops and other activities in collaboration with the City Council and the Community of Madrid.

The Club currently has two agreements with the General Directorate of Sports of the City of Madrid:

• Municipal Games. (Two School competitions in the installation)
• Sports schools: 4 modules (40 remers)

Founded activity:

• 12 - 16 Concerted Competitions throughout the Season
• 6 Boys in the Ortega and Gasset (Joaquín Blume), who combine studies with high-performance training.
• Sports workshops.

They are a non-profit entity that maintains the installation with the income of users and sports programs. This month, due to the closure, three people will be terminated for lack of income-generating capacity for the closure or lack of water.
