The sailing schools of the Valencian nautical clubs have attended 12,466 students during the summer months

The Association of Nautical Clubs of the Valencian Community has carried out its annual statistical study on sailing schools in the summer season, which takes up the sports activity generated during the tables in June, July and August, and which shows an increase of approximately 10.7% over the previous year. This implies an increase in the sports activity offered by the clubs, both to the partners and to the tourists and the neighbours of the municipalities. This season, the sailing schools of the clubs have attended about 12,400 students, compared to 11,200 in the summer of 2015, which has allowed a total of 134 contracts of qualified monitors.

The data collected indicate that the majority of students are in the 8-16 age group, although there is an increase in interest in nautical sports in people over 50 years of age, even over 60 in some cases. The average duration of the courses and activities is five days, a reasonable time to start the sailing. By activity, the most common is the registration in multiactivity courses, which usually include the learning or practice of light sailing, combined with rowing, kayak or paddle surfing. The exclusive light candle or windsurfing are other courses with the most demand, according to the information provided by the clubs.

Although summer is high season on the coast, the Association recalls that sailing schools are open all year round, and that the 500 km of coast present perfect weather conditions for it to be navigated almost every day of the year. In this way, those who have enjoyed initiation courses can take advantage to develop their hobby through others of improvement, or simply maintain knowledge and continue to enjoy the sports of the sea, for which they have open schools in Nautical Clubs of the Valencia Community.
