The tandem composed by Serafim Gonçalves of the Portuguese Naval Clube Povoense and the Pontevedrés Rafa Campelo, has been proclaimed winner of the Gadis Laser Extreme, the only race of the kind that is celebrated in Spain and that has organized the vicedecan of the Galician candle, the Bouzas Maritime Liceo, within the Abanca Week. The third cycle for October 1 and 2 with the Villa de Bouzas de cruises Trophy, and the Press Race that organizes the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona.

Intense day lived in the Ria de Vigo with a wind that was made to beg but that reached 20 knots in tips, to fall below 10. An average of 12 is reasonable for a south-west component. The race began at three to ten in the afternoon, when Manuel Rodríguez Moreno gave the exit in the center of the Viguese ría in the direction of Toralla Island. The last to cross the line of arrival were the couple of the Bouzas Maritime Liceo composed of Carlos and Nicolás Mallo who did so shortly after 6: 00 in the afternoon. Nine laps had been completed to the race site, so the figure of about twenty miles can be considered valid. Of course no "walk" for an Olympic sailing race like the laser in its standard and radial modalities.

The standard general (which coincides with the absolute one) for the combined Povoense and Aguete, being the silver for the Vigués Rafael Martínez Almeida and the Orensian Jorge Pérez Canal (which has in its palmarés a national title as junior laser champion in its day, by the way were the best in the master category), and the bronze for the olive trees Toni Vázquez and Pablo Espinosa of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo. The fourth place for another Orensian Luis Pérez Canal with Chapu Torné (former champion and former champion of Spain in laser) and the fifth for two illustrious of the Galician candle: Antonio Gaona and Alejandro Fraile also from the Nautico de Vigo.

As for the radial class, the winning tandem was the one composed by Pedro Fernández Sacristan and Pedro Salgado, also winners of the youth award, being the silver for the girls Rosario García Royo and Irene Rodríguez Rey (women's trophy winners) and the bronze for Miguel da Rocha and Alfredo Fernández Nores all of the Nautico Club of Canido.

Second cycle of the Abanca Week that began last weekend with the Coca Cola Canido Series that brought together a hundred ships: the Gadis Laser Extreme that organizes the vicedecan of the Galician nautical, the Bouzas Maritime Liceo. In total, 25 teams from other clubs will be on the exit line, in the standard and radio classes with half a hundred athletes who will fight for five long hours in the center of the Ria de Vigo, in a competition that is unique in our country.

Es la única regata de láser extremo que se celebra en España

It is the only extreme laser race held in Spain

The first sleeve will start at 12: 30 in the morning and the second at 3: 30. The closure is scheduled for 9: 00 p.m. at the Maritime Liceo chaired by José María Martínez Bosch.

El relevo es el momento más complicado de las regatas de este tipo

Relay is the most complicated time of this kind of race

Each team is made up of two regatists that are relieved after a complete tour of the barlovento-sotavento that will be installed in the viguese ría. For the relays the Maritime Liceo has five large pneumatic ones where the 25 who will do the relief, rest until they touch their turn... the most complex the relaying itself, and more if the harsh conditions of wind that are announced are confirmed. The operation is very complex, as in addition to these pneumatic vessels with sufficient capacity, the organizers have several rescue pneumatic, as well as for judges and arbitrators. The chief technical officials of this Gaddis Laser Extreme, will be Miguel Pereira and Manuel Veiga by the organization, being the president of the Regatas Committee a most prestigious judge at the national level such as Manuel Rodríguez Moreno, and as an arbitrator the Lusian Joao Allen one of the most prominent European judges and arbitrators.

Son cinco horas de dura competición en la Ría de Vigo

It's five hours of hard competition in the Ria de Vigo

It is a great novelty that two quality lasers of the Orensian Luis Pérez Canal and the Vigués Chapu Torné have decided to reappear in this race. Luis was on his day the Spanish subchampion of laser, while Torné had proclaimed himself a champion. Both are essential in the high competition reference of the Galician heavy candle, in the "April Oils." Other of the great regatists present will be the Viguese Juan Manuel Martínez Pazó, Iago Carballo, Lolo Gestoso, Carlos and Nicolás Mallo, Antonio Gaona, Rafael Martínez Almeida, also the Orensian Jorge Pérez Canal. Also among the favorites are the Herculinos Alvaro Sobral, Pedro Cabalar, Hugo Bermudez or Jaime Acebal. On the part of the Portuguese fleet will be its reference Serafim Gonçalves that will sail with Rafael Campelo. A total of 25 teams belonging to the clubs are confirmed: Real Club Náutico de La Coruña, Club Marítimo de Oza, Club Náutico de Sada, Real Club Náutico de Sanxenxo, Real Club de Mar de Aguete, Real Club Náutico de Vigo, Club Marítimo de Canido, Club Náutico de Panxón, Club Náutico Castrelo de Miño and Clube Naval Povoense.
