The nautical recreational degrees enable the administration of recreational vessels that are not for commercial purposes. They are issued by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy or the Autonomous Communities that have assumed these competences (Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia, Andalusia, Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.
For the government of motor vessels with a maximum power of 11.26 kilowatts and up to 5 metres in length, those of sail up to 6 meters in length and floating or beach artifacts, with the exception of nautical motorcycles, provided that no more than 2 nautical miles are removed from a port, marina or place of shelter and the activity is carried out on a day-to-day navigation. The persons concerned must be 18 years of age. It will not be necessary to meet the age and qualification requirements of this Royal Decree for the purpose of preparing and participating in official maritime-sports competitions.
