The nautical recreational degrees enable the administration of recreational vessels that are not for commercial purposes. They are issued by the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy or the Autonomous Communities that have assumed these competences (Basque Country, Cantabria, Asturias, Galicia, Andalusia, Murcia, Valencia, Catalonia, Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla.

For the government of motor vessels with a maximum power of 11.26 kilowatts and up to 5 metres in length, those of sail up to 6 meters in length and floating or beach artifacts, with the exception of nautical motorcycles, provided that no more than 2 nautical miles are removed from a port, marina or place of shelter and the activity is carried out on a day-to-day navigation. The persons concerned must be 18 years of age. It will not be necessary to meet the age and qualification requirements of this Royal Decree for the purpose of preparing and participating in official maritime-sports competitions.

Federal undertakings
- Government of recreational boats, up to 6 mts. of length and a maximum engine power of 40 kW (54 hp), in day-to-day navigations in areas defined by the Maritime Captains.

Navigation licences
- Sailing and motor federations and nautical recreational schools may issue licences for the government of class C nautical motorcycles and recreational boats up to 6 metres in length and an engine power suitable to them according to their manufacturer, which will enable them to carry out day sailing provided that they do not distance more than 2 nautical miles in any direction of a port, marine or place of coat.

"C" nautical bike pattern

"B" nautical bike pattern
- Management of nautical motorcycles of a power of 55 CV or more and less than 110 C.V.

"A" nautical bike pattern
- Management of nautical motorcycles of a power of 110 C.V. or more

Basic navigation pattern (basic terms of reference)
- Government of motor recreational vessels, up to 8 metres long, provided that the vessel does not leave more than 5 miles in any direction of a port, sea or place of shelter.

Pattern of recreational craft (basic powers)
- Government of motor recreational vessels up to 15 meters long, which has the power to sail in the area between the coast and a line parallel to it, drawn 12 miles from it
- Government of motor recreational vessels up to 15 metres long, which provides the power for the navigation between islands within the Balearic and Canary Islands

Yacht pattern (basic powers)
- Government of motor recreational boats up to 24 meters long, which has the power to sail in the area between the coast and a line parallel to the same drawn at a distance of 150 nautical miles.

Yacht captain (basic powers)
- Government of motor recreational boats up to 24 meters long, which allows for navigation without geographical limits.
