EMBARCATE, enjoy the sea: The Metromar Circuit and Sustainable Fisheries

An image is worth a thousand words. Check it out by watching our videos and imagine being the protagonist of one of our stories. Stories of people who love the sea and one day decided to sail. People like you. Don't miss it.
Today the # embárcate spirit stops in a very widespread activity on our coastline with which many fans enjoy the sea. This is marine recreational fishing, which can be carried out from land, from boat or from underwater fishing.
If testing recreational fishing is among those purposes that you have set out, after the summer holiday, for this new course, we encourage you not to stop enjoying at least some day. Only then will you know if you take a relaxed fisherman or a future sport fishing champion inside.
The first thing you need to know is that any of the forms of marine recreational fishing in Spanish external waters is regulated and requires compliance with a number of requirements. The rules on sports and recreational fishing are available on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture
And from the hobby to competition, it's all "to the rods." Many sports fishing competitions are held in our waters throughout the year.
One of these is the National Sports Fisheries Circuit Metromar, which has just concluded its second edition, an initiative driven by Metromar, a reference insurance company in the water insurance sector that has been betting on sea sports since its inception. Under the strict parameters of "sustainable fishing," the competition has in its two editions managed to bring together first-class sports fishermen from all over Spain and get the support of all the Territorial Federations, as well as the Spanish Federation of Fisheries and Casting itself also has the certification, support and supervision of the researchers of the Spanish Institute of Oceanography and especially of its base in Malaga.
In its second edition, which released jams last June, the Circuit has had three notable competitions. Thefirst in the waters of Mare Nostrum,in the beautiful coastal town of Moraira in the province of Alicante. The Moraira Nautical Club organized the Spanish High Fishing Championship with remarkable success. After the Valencian meeting the turn was played by the King's Cup, which was in the design and execution with the historic Royal Maritime Club of Santander. In Cantabrian waters, ships from all over the Spanish coast competed.
As a test of closing the Copa de Catalunya, in Cambrils, carrying the baton the Club Nàutic of this tarraconense marina villa in the heart of Costa Dorada. In total three hundred fishermen, with the presence of athletes of the highest importance, on board ships as prestigious as the "Clave de Luna" (Jávea), "Txitxiro I" (Getxo), "Kyros" (Cantabria), "Audaz" (Calafat), "Navega Cambrils" (Cambrils), "Macumar" (Marbella), "Nereo (Mallorca)," Calabuch "(Moraira)... The aim is to fish for" allowed "tunes, especially the beautiful (Mediterranean) or the ducks.
On all appointments two fishing days, with hours of 12 hours each and a fishing area up to 50 miles from the respective fishing lines. The presentation held at the Metropolis Building in the capital of Spain, made it possible to anticipate total success in sports.
The philosophy of the Metromar Circuit is clear with regard to the scrupulous implementation of the White Paper, advocated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, which has five unquestionable points, which are also clearly defended by the Community recommendations in this field:
Prohibition of professional gear in sport fishing
Regulation of catches based on the biological situation of marine species
Prohibit the sale of catches to sports fishermen
Sports practice compatible with other industry standards
Sustainability in the conservation of biodiversity and the marine ecosystemIn the Metromar Circuit, the sale of catches, which are used in gear outside the official regulations, cannot capture endangered species such as bluefin tuna and seals that are used are extremely fine, among other measures aimed at sustainability and respect for the marine environment... which must be the flag of high sea sports fishing fans in our country.
