The Port of Santander is a reference in car traffic (Canary Ports)

The Harbour Authority of Santander held, along with the rest of the Harbour Community and the institutions of Cantabria, an act of celebration of the transit of the car 6,000,000 through the Port of Santander. This is a historical fact since it consolidates the Port of Santander as a reference of this type of traffic on the Spanish Atlantic façade and demonstrates the importance that the harbour enclave has acquired for all the great brands of the world of automotive since the start of the handling of vehicles in its facilities in 1989.

The year 2015 was closed with more than 456,764 units manipulated, which was a 22.5% increase over 2014 and a new record for the port of Santander. Particularly positive was the export behaviour that reached a quota of 69%. The evolution of car traffic in 2016 places Santander on a new unit handling roof close to half a million. The figures by mark were:

1-Renault was the brand that most units moved (205,828)
2-Volkswagen (109.987)
3-Ford (49,489)
4-Nissan (34,318)
5-BMW Mini (20.122).
