The I Gala of Club Remo do Miño de Tui was held, where about a hundred people met among management and guests. After a very emotional dinner, the recognition plates were handed over to the 12 club athletes who this year won medals in the Spanish Championship. The delivery was made by the club's president, José Luis Méndez García. After the act of giving the recognition to the sportspeople, the president of the Spanish Federation of Remo, Fernando Citation, took the floor, who congratulated all the respected sportsmen and reported that, unanimously from the Board of Directors of the FER, it was decided to grant the Gold Insignia of the Spanish Federation of Remo, to José Luis Méndez García, for his sports career.

José Luis has been several times the Spanish champion, Olympic at the legendary Olympic in Rome 1960, national rowing selector, vice president of the Spanish Remo Federation, founder and coach of the Remo do Miño Club, vice president of the Castrelo de Miño Nautical Club, founder of the rowing section of the Bouzas Maritime Liceo, rowing delegate of the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo and now president of the Remo do Miño Club... a lifetime dedicated to the rowing.
