A basic aspect of understanding the development of the Metromar Circuit is its commitment to responsible and sustainable fishing for the marine environment. Metromar is fully identified with the White Paper recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment for Recreation Fisheries, which has five mandatory "commands": Prohibition of professional gear; regulation of catches based on the biological situation of marine species; prohibition of the sale of catches to sportsmen; sports practice compatible with other industry standards; sustainability with respect to the conservation of biodiversity and the marine ecosystem. In the Metromar Circuit, the sale of catches, which are used in gear outside official regulations, is taxatively prohibited, cannot capture endangered species such as bluefin tuna and the seals used are extremely fine. To more of these measures Metromar has requested the Spanish Oceanographic Institute, its support to be vigilant in the implementation of these measures, and has managed to get the prestigious state institution to move research biologists from its centre in Malaga, specialists in tunes, to Cambrils to check in situ this sustainability and respect for the marine environment.
