Ports of numbers 2 and Sailing (year 1957). The first dedicated to the world of the snipes, to the Regata de Cannes the "Skiyachting" and the second to the winner of the Regata New York-Santander of 1928, to the Schonner "Girl"

We are in 1957, with numbers 2 and 3 of the first Spanish sailing magazine, the Revista Vela published in the capital of Spain on the street Preciados 23. In those distant years simply giving a flat color to a publication was a luxury, if it also had paper of 180 grs, with covers of 220 grs. and varnished!, we were already in a superluxury.

The advertising is low in these publications, with very few nautical advertisers, some in Santander, others in Vigo or Malaga... and they start to appear in Catalonia.

They are complemented by pages of other activities, such as ship offices or even candy, demonstration of the efforts of editors to their friends and commitments to move forward with the publication. We also assume the amateurism of the collaborators, given the quality of the personalities of extraordinary quality who write in Vela.

Indexna was the first modern distribution company with a considerable size and base in Barcelona... on the right a private madrileño puts for sale its excellent motor yacht

If in number 1, there comes a full page dedicated to the Caudillo with dedicated to Vela included, in number 2 is Admiral Salvador Moreno (grandfather of Carlos Moreno, former manager of the MRCY of Baiona and the RCN of La Coruña) who appears on page five with his photograph, praying the dedication: "To the Revista Vela to which I wish the best successes... very affectionately...."

In number 3, curiously in an intense red, it is the Minister of Marina, also Admiral Felipe José Abárzuza and Oliva who congratulates the publication with a long dedication, which we do not know... and which is dated March 6, 1957.

Among the articles are with great interest, the case of those dedicated to the preparation of the JJOO Roma 1960, or to various races of Palma de Mallorca, Castellón or Bilbao, for giving three examples. The atmosphere is also heated in front of a New York-Santander Regata, from which little is given in the name of the ships that go or try to participate, or even the 1928 edition, which has been the first ocean race organized by a Spanish club: the Royal Maritime Club of Santander.

Ads on the left of trophies, insurance and shipyards. On the right a project born in 1952 by the Royal Nautical Club of Vigo and Alfredo Lagos, through which a new ship, the "Dolphin," was launched... the Nautico endorsed the new shipowners, in a unique project in the world and that aroused international interest. It was a support for the real and tangible candle.

Other collaborations speak of the Monaguesque races of the Snipe class, or of the participation of Spain in the missing class 505... specifically of 505 it is said that our country had been represented by the Ferrol Naval Regatta Commission... the ship that participated in Le Baule in France, was the "Sisargas" with Jaime Parada as patron and Gonzalo Molins as proel.

A total of 44 participated... the curious thing is that the Ferrolano ship was the only one to carry cotton candles. The positions of our representative who complained of the bias of the judges only returning to Spain were: 36º-6º-16º-15th... ending in the 18th place of the general.
