Abanca's work in support of the candle has been a determining factor in the decision of the National Selling Awards of Terras Guda, which are awarded each year at the Monte Real Club de Yates de Baiona (Photo Carlos Rúa).

Abanca has been distinguished this year with the National Selling Award for the best sponsor for his commitment to the basic sailing through the support he provides to many sailing schools, clubs, organizations and companies related to nautical activity. The Jury that grants the awards has wanted to recognize with this prize the work that the bank based in Galicia does to boost the sailing and allow thousands of children to start every year in the practice of this sport.

As its original entities did for decades, Abanca maintains a close relationship with the candle in all its aspects, based, as stated by the entity, on its educational, sports and economic values. In addition to support for the basic candle, in the competitive section, Abanca also supports the candle adapted for people with disabilities and the celebration in Galician waters of multiple races of different classes and levels, such as the Abanca Week "Sailing & Rowing Week," which in the 2015 edition achieved the distinction of the Best Sailing Sail Regata of Spain, or the Infanta Regata Elena.

The Abanca Week, which was created in 2001, has had the names of the Caixanova Week and the Novagalicia Week Bank previously, being organized this year, by the Leixóes Atlantic Sailing Clube, the Canido Maritime Club, the Bouzas Maritime Liceo, the Vigo Maritime Club, the Punta Lagoa Nautical Club, the Ria de Marin Remo Clube, the Sada Nautical Club and the Royal Gijón Regatas Club; it has the support of the Spanish Federation of Vela, the Basque Federation and the Basque Federation, the Vela Federation, and the Basque Federation. The Admiral of the Abanca Week, is Carlos Sande Amor.
