"Delphis" is the winner of the 22nd Illes Balears Classics Regata, which has brought together 42 ships from 12 countries, on the main Spanish quote of these floating jewels. The best in the class Marconi time takes the absolute triumph after winning in all races. "Marigan" wins in class Crab time and "Lady Anne" gives no options to "Hispania" in F15. "Spin," the best of the Classic. "Spartan," chosen Legend of the seafor its impeccable conservation and representation of the "spirit of the classical candle."

F15
Lady Anne (1912) did not fail and was awarded the victory that had left well tied in the first three races of the case FI15, where he competed in "match race" format with Hispania (1909). The last day was certainly the most exciting.

_
In the Epoco Craja class (ships voted until 1950 with trapezoidal gear), the Marigan (1898), patronized and armed by the German based in Mallorca Tim Liesenhoff, was pointed out his fourth consecutive victory in the Illes Balears Classics and becomes the vessel that has most often raised the iconic trophy of the bronze keel of the Club de Mar, designed by the sculptor Álvaro de la Rosa.

_
The Spartan took the "Legend of the Sea" award, awarded by a jury who appreciated in it "the best representation of the spirit of the classical candle." The heritage and nautical experts Manuel Gómez, Carlos Ferret and Chema Sans valued their excellent conservation status and the fact that he is the only survivor of the nine NY50 built in the early 20th century to compete in real time in the races of the East Coast of the United States.

_
The Argentine Delphis (1930) imposed its highest speed in the Epoco Marconi class (ships launched until 1950 with triangular sail) and gave no choice to the Sonata (1937), by Jordi Cabau. His three victories in many other coastal tests made him the best of the 42 registered ships and made him the great winner. He has the grympola of the Yate Club Argentino in Buenos Aires.

CLASSIC
The Giraldilla (1963), armed by Valle de la Riva and patronized by Petete Rubio, also won the three trials in Classics (ships launched between 1950 and 1975) since last Thursday. The great surprise in this class was given by the Kahurangi (1952), the flagship of the New Zealand Royal Yacht Squadron. It was second, ahead of the Emeraude, of Vittorio Cavazzana.

OTHER CLASS
In the rest of the classes, the winners were the Young Tiger (Dragon) of Nani Mas; the Annika (Latin Sailing) of Miguel Rigo, who also awarded the special prize Pedro Cardona, in honor of this Mallorcan naval builder; and the Muga (Classic RI) of Antonio Oliver.

The XXII Regata Illes Balears Classics released on noon at the Club de Mar Mallorca with the official opening event and tomorrow, if time allows, the first day of competition will be held. A total of 42 vessels, representing 12 countries, will take part until next Saturday in this event for the classic and time sailing, pointable for the national championship of the category and the Mare Nostrum circuit. The sports coordinator of the Club de Mar Mallorca and the double Olympic sailing champion, Theresa Zabell, highlighted in the course of the presentation the good level of the fleet in the category of ships of Epoch, as well as the duel that will star in the Bay of Pama the Hispania (1909), the one that was a sailing boat of Alfonso XIII, and the Lady Anne (1912), and the presence, among others, of Spartan (1912), the only surviving unit of the nine that were built in the United States under the rules of the NY50 and that will sail for the first time in Europe.

"I encourage the citizens of Palma to go out to the sea to witness this show, for we never know when we will have a match race between two ships like Hispania and Lady Anne again.", Zabell said, convinced that the Illes Balears Classics will be one of the great nautical shows of the summer in Mallorca. "Not only at sea, but also on land, where we have scheduled activities aimed at bringing classical sailing and heritage closer to the general public"he added in reference to the exhibition of models by Xavier Pastor Quijada that is inaugurated this afternoon at the Club de Mar and to the day of open doors that will take place next Friday. The welcome to the crews will take place at 8 a.m. today.

The Illes Balears Classics maintains its usual format, based on the division of the fleet of classics depending on the age of the ships and their rigging. In this way the following classes will be formed: Epoco Craja (sails launched before 1950 with trapezoidal gear), Epoco Marconi (with a triangula candle), Classics (from 1950 to 1975) and Spirit of Tradition (sails of construction after 1975 but that remain faithful to the lines of the classics). In addition, the two FI15 (Hispania and Lady Anne), who will compete in real time, and the Dragon, RI and Latin Sailing classes, which will one more year put the Pedro Cardona Trophy into play. The most important developments of this edition are the incorporation of an present class, which will allow to admire the heritage jewels that do not participate in the race (such as the Rafael Verdera, a pailebote of 1841) or the Eiliean (1936), and the establishment of the award called Legends of the Sea, which will recognize the shipowner whose ship best represents the "spirit of the classical candle." The first of the three scheduled races is scheduled for Thursday, 11 August, at 1 p.m. The forecast is of weak winds of northern component. The organization trusts that, if the day is clear, the competition can be held with the typical Embat of the Bay of Palma.
