The countdown for the Barcelona World Race 2018 / 2019 begins
In recent months, the FNOB (Fundación ació Navocació Oceànica de Barcelona) has carried out an important field work for the next edition of the Barcelona World Race.
The Directorate of the Foundation has held meetings with numerous ocean race teams from Spain, France and the rest of the world and has increased contacts with skippers of almost all nationalities represented on the circuit, with the aim of listening to their opinions and suggestions and assessing the feasibility of their concerns.
At the level of class management, the FNOB has agreed on concrete communication and sponsorship strategy actions with Open Sports Management (OSM) and has thoroughly reviewed the format of the race with the IMOCA class management.
In parallel, meetings have been held with the organizations of the other ocean races back to the world in order to reach stable agreements, work together for better coordination of calendars and carry out joint actions for the dissemination and promotion of ocean sailing.
The opinion of the regular sponsorship and sponsorship agencies of the race, which have been expressly contacted, has been taken into account to achieve an optimal integration of the commercial interests of the brands. The national and international federations contacted (ISAF (World Sailing), RFEV, FCV, UFEC, etc.) have endorsed their explicit support for the race.
The Barcelona World Race bears with great pride and responsibility the name of Barcelona around the world and therefore the image of the city is one of the main values it incorporates. Barcelona is an intrinsic and indissoluble part of the race, strengthening the sports tradition and organization of great events that characterize the city. The Foundation's patterns have been involved in this objective, reaffirming their full support for the event and its renewed objectives.
Thanks to this large number of actions and the process of reviewing the format of the race, today 16 teams from France, Germany, Japan, USA, NZ, Ireland, UK, Switzerland, Canada, Italy, South Africa and Hungary have shown their interest in participating in the next edition and incorporate the Barcelona World Race as a target in their sports and sponsorization program.
In addition, six Spanish teams are preparing their participation for the 4th edition of the race in 2018 - 2019 and are following their application for pre-registration.
They are therefore 22 teams that have shown their interest in participating in the next edition of the Barcelona World Race 2018-2019.
The long way to the exit of the race is not easy and it is certain that some projects will not achieve their goal. However, the huge participation of the Vendée Globe this year, with 30 registered ships, has led to a large fleet available and therefore many teams with possibilities and interest in continuing their sports and sponsorship programs in the Barcelona regatta, which certainly led to a high participation in the 4th edition of the Barcelona World Race in 2018-2019.
