Second delivery of the "tips" of the Maritime Rescue: Checklist before sailing

Before going to sea, it is very important for the safety of the navigation, to check in port faithfully the following list, and do not forget to give your crew standards of conduct for emergency cases; to have connected the man system to the water while sailing and to respect the use of channels 16 VHF and 70 LSC, trying to keep permanently listening in both:

  • Weather prediction
  • Navigation and government equipment (compass, sliding, rudder and radar)
  • Fuel for travel and booking
  • Communications equipment (VHF-LSD)
  • Nautical letters from the area
  • Propulsion equipment (oil, levels, cooling, horn, filters, plugs)
  • Standard and bilge systems (background valves, sentins, toilets, sinks, mufflers, hatches)
  • Battery status (level, load, corrosion, charger, connections)
  • Status of current (watertight, terminal)
  • Navigation lights (watertight, light bulbs, casings)
  • Flashlights and spare batteries
  • Life jacket for each crew member (if any, child size) (check: whistle, strips, reflective tapes, boat name)
  • Security hubs
  • Status of security equipment (raft, flares, smoke signals, signal mirror, rings)
  • Fire control system
  • Radar reflector, radiobaliza (406 Mhz)
  • Drinking water (in tanks)
  • Navigation plan (deliver it / communicate it to the Nautical Club or the Navy)
  • Ship documentation
  • Anchors and ends (stowage, corrosion, grinding brake)

It is appropriate to have on board

  • Alternative propulsion means
  • Tools, spare parts
  • Thermal suits
  • Piping, dizziness pills
  • Sacks, fishing gear
  • Coat / waterproof
