Noatum Container in Bilbao gets a 12-year extension in the concession
Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao, belonging to the group Noatum and concessionaire of the container terminal of the Port of Bilbao, has obtained the extension of the concession of the terminal for another 12 years, as has been communicated by the Harbour Authority of Bilbao following its approval within the Council. This decision is a great support for the management that Noatum has been doing in recent years at the terminal, and support for the new investments being made in the Port of Bilbao.
In this sense the terminal received three Transtainer cranes for storage of containers from the Noatum terminal in Malaga last days. These cranes represent an important modernization of your machinery park and will affect the productivity of the terminal very positively. In addition, it represents an investment of 2.4 million euros, which together with the 2 Reachstackers already acquired and the 3 border gaps that will arrive in the coming months, makes Noatum reach an investment in machinery of 4.3 million euros in 2016. These investments are to be added to the two major projects of Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao for the years 2016-2018: the installation of the new Automatic Doors and the extension of the railway terminal.
The investment plan planned by Noatum Bilbao for the years 2016-2018 will reach a total of 10 million euros. In the words of Elvira Gallego, director of Noatum Container Terminal Bilbao "this decision to extend the concession of Noatum for another 12 years is a clear commitment of the Harbour Authority to our management and commitment to maximize the quality of service to our customers, contributing with these investments in machinery and infrastructure to increase the intermodality and to the full development of all the opportunities that the Port of Bilbao offers."
