The main firms in the sector will not miss the Nautical Hall of Barcelona
The Barcelona International Nautical Salon, which will take place from 12 to 16 October in Port Vell, will bring together the largest and most varied offer of the Spanish sports and recreational nautical sector with the presence of the main exhibitors. In addition, the event, which will have a wide programme of activities and experiences for all the public, will also enhance its role as the main forum and dynamic of the sector, giving a special role this year to entrepreneurs linked to the nautical sector and will devote a day to them.
Visitors to the 55th edition of the living room, which will take up the docks of Spain and the Fusta del Port Vell, will once again be able to enjoy both the floating sample - with vessels from 8 m long - and the exhibition on the ground, with all kinds of new, products and nautical services that include from electronics and engines, to paintings, sailways, trailers, fishing items, charter or sports ports, as well as small and pneumatic vessels. In this sense, so far, the leading companies that have already confirmed their participation include Beneteau, CNB-Lagoon, Conade, Fountaine Pajot, Jeanneau, Marina Estrella, Marina Marbella, Metropol Náutias, Nautic Luis, Sunseeker, Touron, Yamaha or Zodiac.
"The competition will once again demonstrate its full potential as the main commercial and meeting platform of the sports and recreational nautical sector in Spain," says the president of the salon, Luis Conde. It also stresses that "visitors will have a unique opportunity to know the latest developments and products, to establish contacts with nautical companies, to test vessels in the water and to participate in multiple events. All this in a privileged environment such as the Port Vell of Barcelona."
In the first half of this year the market for recreational craft has a very similar situation to that of the same period last year in terms of registration, with an increase of 3.7% for new ships and 11.5% on the rental market. "This season the growth of enrolment has slowed over the last three years, however we note that the change in business models and the creation of new companies in the sector, more oriented towards the provision of services and the incorporation of new technologies in management, continues to advance," says Carlos Sanlorenzo, general secretary of the National Association of Nautical Companies, Anen.
Meeting point of startups and investors
One of the new developments in this edition is the commitment to give space, support and startup to entrepreneurs and startups linked to the increasingly numerous nautical sector and that are shaping a new business fabric in this area. On Thursday, October 13, the event will organize, with the collaboration of Anen, the 1st Day for nautical entrepreneurs in the Espai del Mar, one of the thematic areas of the living room. During its celebration, entrepreneurs and representatives of innovative or technology-based emerging companies will demonstrate their projects and solutions and present them to potential investors and firms in the sector. Successful entrepreneurs' conferences will also be held in addition to networking activities.
Another new development is the round table on sports nautical in the Espai del Mar. Organized by the Association of Naval and Ocean Engineers of Spain, designers of competition ships, crew members and others involved in the nautical competition will participate. Planned for Friday, October 14, the session is part of the 55 Congress of Naval Engineering and Maritime Industry. In the Espai del Mar, presentations of races, trophies or prizes will also be held, as well as discussions and conferences on the marine environment and navigation in all its variants.
Living the sea with the living room
Under the motto "Live the Sea," the living room will again be a place of fun and new experiences for nautical fans in general, but also for those who want to start or are curious about this world. For the director of the living room, Jordi Freixas, "one of the main objectives is to spread the culture of the sea and show the many ways to enjoy it."
In the Fun Beach Area, for example, a test area with access to the sea will be reinstalled so that the younger and family public can enjoy light sailing, canoe, kayak or paddle surfing sessions. The IV Barcelona SUP Festival is also scheduled to be held, a meeting of Stand Up Paddle Surf fans who will practice this sport in the waters of Port Vell. For its part, in the area of Marina Traditional, where the classic boats will be exposed, workshops and activities will be held for the whole family.
The Nautical Salon also actively collaborates in campaigns for the promotion and dissemination of sports and recreational nautical throughout the year, such as the successful "# embárcate" of Anen "designed to soak the Spanish society of the sea," according to Sanlorenzo, and that will have an active presence during the event; or as the recently celebrated Marina Day, on the day of the sports ports, an initiative of the Catalan Association of Sports and Tourism Ports (ACPET).
More festive and gastronomic proposals
Many exhibitors also plan to organize activities and parties on their stands, most of them on Friday, 14, coinciding with Nautical Night in which the "Swimnight & kayak" (an exhibition of swimmers, escorted by kayaks, in the port waters) will be held for the second year, as well as live music, fashion shows and tasting, among other initiatives.
The competition also aims to enhance the spaces and gastronomic activities. On this occasion, in addition to the OneOcean Club restaurant, the Nautic Food Plaza (restaurant and chill out) and the Nautic Village by TheCooluxury (standing area with premium products of fashion, art, design and gastronomy), the living room plans to host the 1st Gastronomical Nautical Show, a meeting point for the most Sibarite located in a catamaran to be accessed by invitation. Organised by Curt Editions, this boat will make tasting and tasting of premium products, as well as talks and presentations on new culinary trends by renowned chefs.
The Barcelona Nautical Salon is a founding member of the International Federation of Boat Show Organisers (IFBSO) and an international benchmark today. Organized by Fira de Barcelona and of an annual nature, the living room has the support and collaboration of Anen.
