The Port of Alicante increases its traffic of goods by 29.50% until May

El presidente de la Autoridad Portuaria de Alicante, Juan Antonio Gisbert, ha presidido esta semana el consejo de administración del puerto en el que se ha dado cuenta de los principales datos relativos al tráfico de mercancías hasta mayo de este ejercicio.

The president of the Harbour Authority of Alicante, Juan Antonio Gisbert, has presided over the board of administration of the Port in which the main data relating to the traffic of goods until May of this exercise has been reported.

It should be noted that a total of 1,465,529 tonnes have been moved compared to 1,135,565 tonnes moved in the same period of 2015, an increase of 29.5%. Among the figures offered to the members of the council is the number of TEUs moved in the same period, which amounts to 63,531, compared to 54,252 TEUs moved until May 2015, an increase of 17.1%. As for the total of ports of call until May of this year the port has received a total of 355 ships compared to 302 ships that arrived in port until May 2015, which means a growth of 17.5%.

The board also noted the appointment of Francisco Gómez Andreu as a member of the board of directors representing business organizations, replacing Moses Jiménez Mañas. In addition, the new organization chart of the Harbour Authority has been approved on the proposal of the President, which aims to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the institution, and to respond to different challenges that arise.
