Prior to the Baiona-Angra Regatta (Azores)

The Spanish Club of the Atlantic with the greatest experience in high-rise races (Bermuda, Lymington, Cork, Lorient and Infamous Azores), has launched this Baiona- Açores 2016, super interesting.
Departure from Baiona on Sunday
The Baiona-Azores Ocean Regatta, which organizes the Mount Real Club of Yates and the Angra Iate Clube, left Baiona Bay. In line of output the ten registered units enjoyed a soft wind of 8 knots of speed. According to the information of the Organizing Committee two hours after the departure the wind has increased to twenty knots of northern component. For the time being, a favourable wind, but with the fear of a roll to the north-west, which would cause the ships to sail in a knot. For now as it is said: fin wind.
Great expectation this morning at Baiona Bay to attend the return of Mount Real Club of Yates to international races with the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race, a competition that the Club of Yates organizes in collaboration with the Angra Iate Clube de Azores. Very punctual, at one in the afternoon, nine ships took their way to Angra do Heroismo, on Terceira Island of the Azorian archipelago, where the first ones are expected to start arriving within five days. Although at the time of the exit the wind blew with very little intensity and did not allow a quick and lucid advance towards the beacon of the dismarking, after the Beacon of Carallones, the wind rose with intensity and the regatta took on momentum. In the head, highlighting the rest, the Saint Maxime, a 50 feet of very agile carbon in navigation even with light winds, patrolled by Miguel Lago. Very close to him, another ship of Mount Real, the Txole of Ignacio Sánchez Otaegui, 47 feet. And without taking off from them, it also sails the Xekmatt of José Carlos Prista, of the Associaçao Nautica Recreio (ANR), used to the Atlantic waters after having completed several races from Lisbon to Azores. The Pakistan of Unai Basurko and the Cleopatra led by José Rafael Ribeiro are also sailing these first miles at a very good rate, with about 9 knots of average. The Atlantis of Ivan Prieto, the Free Spirit of Yann Lascan, and the Brumario of Alejandro Pazó are located later. And closing ranks, the Moflete of Antonio Díaz.
The Dulcamara of Henril Olsson, which was to run along the Mount Real Club of Yates, was not finally able to go out to sea because of a problem in the engine, which gave failure hours before the departure and prevented the ship from meeting the safety requirements required by the race committee. Nine ships, therefore, are the ones who are fighting, from today, the victory of the first stage of the Baiona Angra Atlantic Race, which will increase in emotion as the ships approach Azores. If the forecasts are met, it is more than likely that the wind, which at the beginning will be favourable, will begin to fall within the last 100 miles, which will force the crews to squeeze to the maximum all their techniques and tactics of navigation.
The Yates Club has planned a real-time follow-up of the race, which can be effective for all fans, entering the following link:
