Princess Sofia Trophy by Fergus the Olympic fleet reaches the equator

The 55 Trophy Princess Sofia Mallorca by Fergus Hotels reached its equator in a third day that marked the beginning of the final series in three of the ten Olympic classes, raising the competitive level in the waters of Palma Bay. The Spanish Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona are again leaders in 470 Mixed, while Paula Barceló and María Cantero raided the first square tied with the second in 49erFX (Photo Sailing Energy)
The Australian Matt Wearn remains the leader of the ILCA7 class... second the British Michael Beckett, while the German Ole Schweckendiek was placed third. The Alicantino Gonzalo Suárez remains in the privileged group of the top 20, classified in the tenth square.
The Irish Eve McMahon is still in charge of the fleet of 143 vessels of ILCA 6, although today the Belgian Emma Plasschaert was better and placed at its back, with only one more point. In the third square is the Australian Mara Stransky.
The 101 ships of 49er were able to complete today a single test, disputed in the last hour of the afternoon. Americans Nevin Snow and Ian MacDiarmid replaced in the honor position the Australians Harry Price and Max Paul, who fell to the third square. The Argentines Hernán Umpierre and Fernando Diz signed a first one that served them to place seconds.

In 470 Mixed the Spaniards Jordi Xammar and Marta Cardona recovered the first square after unbanishing the French Matisse Pacaud and Lucie de Gennes, which became second to three points of the Catalan-balar dupla. The French, with the same discards, were not so right (13-2-7). The Italians Elena Berta and Giulio Calabrò stand firm in the third position (Photo Sailing Energy)
The Nacra 17 class was unable to complete the planned tests due to the fall of the wind, so the general is still led by the Swedes Emil Järudd and Hanna Jonsson, followed by the Argentine Olympic medalists Mateo Majdalani and Eugenia Bosco. Ida Svensson and Marcus Dackhammar are third parties.
Same luck for the 119 windsurfers of iQFOiL Men, who couldn't compete. We will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the British Duncan Monaghan can stay at the top of the table, and to see if the Majorcan Nacho Baltasar, at the third moment, can improve its performance. With four sleeves held, this is the only class that does not advance to the final series.
The 70-board fleet of iQFOiL Women is still led by Polish Anastasiya Valkevich after completing three sleeves today, on the second day for this class. The provisional podium is completed by Israeli Tamar Steinberg and Italian Olympic champion Marta Maggetti, both tied to points. The Andalusian Pilar Lamadrid managed to seal a third in the last test and ascended to the thirty-second position, five ahead of the Majorcan Andrea Torres.

At Formula Kite Men, the four sleeves completed today did not make any changes in the classification. The Italian Riccardo Pianosi stands at the front of the table, but the Singaporean Max Maeder, a defender of the title in Palma, stalks him at only one point. The Brazilian Bruno Lobo remains third, also very close, while the current Olympic champion, the Austrian Valentin Bontus, marches fourth. In Formula Kite Women, the general classification remains stable in the upper part after the second day of competition for the class, with a clear domino. The Dutch Jessie Kampman continues to head the table and consolidates her leadership with a large 15-point mattress, marking differences over the rest of the fleet. The French Lauriane Nolot, a silver medalist in Paris 2024, is in second position, taking the square from her compatriot Lysa Caval, who falls to fifth place, while the Chinese Chenxue Liu completes the provisional podium for the second consecutive day.
The competition will continue tomorrow, Thursday, April 2, from 11: 00 with new tests in all classes. With the exception of iQFOiL Men, all will start or follow the final series.
