The Galician candle lived on Friday one of its most special nights with the celebration of the Gala da Vela Galega 2025, an event organized by the Royal Galician Federation of Vela and the Concello of Sanxenxo, with the collaboration of the Royal Nautical Club of Sanxenxo and Nauta Sanxenxo, which reunited in the town pontevedresa the main protagonists of the autonomous nautical sport.

The Auditorium do Pazo Emilia Pardo Bazán hosted an event in which there were a meeting of athletes, technicians, clubs and institutions, with the presence of Manuel Villaverde, president of the Royal Galician Federation of Vela; Telmo Martín, mayor of Sanxenxo; Diego Calvo, conselleiro de Presidencia, Xustiza e Sports de la Xunta de Galicia; and Luisa Sánchez, vice president of the City Council of Pontevedra, among other authorities and members of the Board of the RFGV, in a evening that served to put at an excellent level at the international level.

Throughout the gala, which was led by Terio Carrera, some of the most prominent names of the year were recognized, with mentions for athletes such as Patricia Suárez, Spanish champion of 49erFX, or the brothers Martin and Jaime Wizner, European champions of 49er. There was also room for young talent, represented by Lindia Pousa, world champion sub17 of Techno293, and Vera Vázquez, world champion of kitesurf at Freestyle Sub19, as well as Ero Pons, a technician of the 49er Olympic team who won the European title and fifth position in the World Cup last year.
