Raig FNB, the sustainable autonomous sailboat designed and built by students of the Barcelona Faculty of Nautics of the UPC

A team of 26 students from the Faculty of Nautics of Barcelona from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech have been working for nine months on the design and manufacture of the Raig FNB sailing boat, to participate in the first edition of 'La Micro Ruta de la Sal', the first long-distance race for autonomous and unmanned sailing boats. The Spai Vela de la FNB has been the stage of the boat's launch, which will participate, from 2 to 5 April in Ibiza, in a first exhibition with the rest of the race teams.

It has almost 3 meters in length, a fiberglass helmet and 3.5 m2 candles. It integrates an automatic pilot and several sensors that allows it to independently perform intelligent navigation and manage real-time routes, adjusting the path according to the conditions of the sea and the wind. It is the Raig FNB, a sailing boat designed to participate in the first edition of 'La Micro Ruta de la Sal' and must be able to sail, without crew, from Ibiza to the peninsula, carrying a symbolic salt sac of 1 kg. And it has been designed and built by a team of 26 students from the Faculty of Nautics in Barcelona.
