Sevilla lived a memorable weekend of pyragüismo with the LVI Spanish Winter Championship of Sprint. Two days of the largest speciality of this sport and in which the best palists of the country were gathered in this competition that is disputed at the distance of 5000 meters.

In the Senior competition, María Corbera (C1) and Paco Cubelos (K1) had the option to win the seventh title of this event that opens the national Sprint season. The wood, due to an untimely last minute injury, could not be of the departure in its test, so the final, the only disputed on the Saturday day, was orphaned by its maximum exponent.

The Talaverano Cubelos, who arrived in Seville after winning the National Selective last Sunday in one of his favorite tests, the K1 1000 which provided him with a place in the national team of the specialty for the first two cups of the world of May, had before him a large plateau of competitors who were going to test him in a final with 60 participants. It was precisely this race, the most expected and spectacular of the program of this Championship that will be remembered for the triumph of Alberto Llera (Basic Sports Club of Piragüismo El Sella) in a few epic final meters.

This Llera triumph is the first in the senior category, in its first year as such, and the fifth of its palmaris after the two victories it achieved as Junior and others as Sub 23.
