The Kieler Woche, which will start tomorrow Wednesday and end next Sunday, is the unique classification race chosen by the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation (RFEV), to determine which crew will represent Spain in the Laser Radial class at the Rio Olympic Games.

The Laser Radial as an Olympic category is exclusively female and Kiel has registered up to five Spanish regatists. The Canarias Alicia Cebrián (RCN Tenerife), Martina Reino (RCN Gran Canaria), the Catalan Mònica Azón (CN El Masnou) and Cristina García (CN Cambrils) and the Balar Aina Bauzá (RCN Palma). Of these five will be the last Spanish crew to be defined from each to Rio 2016. The RFEV has moved to Kiel coach Damián Borras, who will follow up the Spanish regatists and ensure that the selection system published in the 2016 Guide is followed correctly.

Cebrian and Azon are the most experienced, as both have been Olympic. The Tineffeña in London 2012 in this same class and the Barcelona in Athens 2004 in Yngling. The youth put the Kingdom, world champion in youth category and García and Bauzá.
A total of ten tests are planned from Wednesday to Saturday, and the first ten will be held on Sunday at the Medal Race.
In Laser Standard, three Spanish crews will take part, those of the Olympic White Joaquin (RCN Gran Canaria), Joel Rodríguez (RCN Gran Canaria) and Joan Cardona (RCN Palma). The sisters Carla and Marta Munté (CN Cambrils) and 420 Alex Bru (CN El Balís) participate in FX.
