This morning, the General Assembly of the Galician Federation of Piragüismo was held at the David Cal de Verducido Sports Centre, in which 20 members of the Assembly participated, representing clubs, athletes, technicians and arbitrators of the Galician Piragüismo and which was led by its President Jose Alfredo Bea. During the session the main sports, economic and organizational issues of the federation were discussed, corresponding to the closing of the 2024-2025 season and the planning of 2026.
One of the data highlighted at the meeting was the evolution of the number of federal licences. In the comparison between 2024 and 2025, the Galician Federation of Piragüismo increased from 4,198 to 4,548 licences, an increase of 8.34%, a growth that replaces pyragüism among the sports with the greatest increase in the Galician sport. In short, autonomous licences increased by 11.45%, while national licences increased by 4.51%. These figures are much more valuable compared to the whole Galician sport, which in 2025 reached a total of 321,986 licences, only 2,315 more than in 2025.
The president presented the sports balance of the last season, which again showed the weight of Galician pyragüism in the whole of national pyragüism. Galicia had a prominent presence in the main national and international competitions, contributing between 30 and 45% of the athletes of the national teams in World and European Championships, both in absolute, sub23 and junior categories.
The presence of licensed Palists of the Galician Federation of Piragüismo in international competitions in other forms such as Dragon Boat, Slalom, Kayak Polo, Aguas Bravas, Marathon and Speed, as well as in Paracanoe, was also valued, reaching record figures of Galician representation at the high level in 2025.
The high Galician participation in the Spanish Championships of Sprint, Winter and Young Promises was also highlighted, where Galicia relocated among the communities with the largest number of registered palists. These come from the work that is being developed from the categories of the base to the high performance, in which clubs, technicians and athletes enter directly, to which was added the triumph in the Spanish Championship of autonomous selections in the form of sprint.
In the economic section, the General Assembly was informed of the closure of the 2024-2025 financial year, which was completed with a surplus of 116,171 euros, the largest recorded by the Federation in recent years. This result improves that of the previous year, which had been closed with a surplus of EUR 18,416, this is due to income growth, which was EUR 1.45 million, and expenditure management with the approved budget.
The balance sheet reflects a total asset growth up to €1.67 million, driven by investments in material means, for the federation. In addition, the president highlighted the improvement of liquidity and the recovery of a positive manoeuvre fund, as well as the consolidation of positive own funds of EUR 70,489, leaving total net worth above EUR million.
Finally, the Assembly was aware of the calendar of competitions for the next season, although competition can still be added to it, with all this the Galician Federation of Piragüismo will again assume the organization of more than 90 events at the autonomous, national and international level, consolidating Galicia once again as one of the territories with the most activity of Spanish Piragüism. With more than two hours of assembly, the data show a growing entity, with a consolidated sports structure and a stable economic situation, which allows to face the next seasons with a planning for the clubs that make it.
