Spanish windsurfer Nacho Baltasar has hung the silver medal at the iQFOiL Sub 23 World Championship, which he has played in Portimao (Portugal) for six days. The regatist of the CN Sa Ràpita, the tenth first in Paris 2024, measured from you with the Australian Gray Morris, the current Olympic champion and undisputed leader of the competition, in a Medal Series of maximum emotion.
The mallorquin accessed the Medal Series in fourth position, which gave the direct pass to the Semifinal. It was not good for Baltasar to start this test, which has been fought with winds between 12 and 16 knots of intensity. However, the young windsurfer has managed to overcome all his rivals to cross the finish line in first position and win the Grand Final ticket.
In the Grand Finale, the first two of the previous series were expected: the Italian Leonardo Tomasini - which had been second - and the current Olympic champion and intractable leader of this championship, the Australian Gray Morris, with a win already on his score. Nacho Baltasar has first come out and during the test has managed to increase his advantage progressively, until the triumph of this first assault of the Grand Final, equating the locker with the Australian.
In the second Grand Final, Gray Morris has succeeded in signing a first to sentence the championship and crown the world champion, while Nacho Baltasar has won the title of subchampion. The bronze has been for the Italian Leonardo Tomasini.
At 21 years of age, Nacho Baltasar is one of the most popular Spanish windsurfers. In his first Olympic experience, in Paris 2024, he was ranked in the tenth place after staying at the gates of entering the Medal Series. In his palmarés he stands out a fifth place in the Test Event in Marseilles in 2023 and a bronze in the French Olympic Week in 2024. This season his best result had been a fourth in Hyères, to which he now adds this silver from the World Cup Sub 23.
