2025-09-12: Spain SailGP third in the opening and with possibilities to fight in the final

The Spaniards finish third on the first day of the race in Saint- Tropez, and will fight tomorrow for the end of the event

SailGP's Spanish team is back. The Spaniards shook the pressure on Saint- Tropez and forgot the bad results of Portsmouth and Sassnitz to fly over the water and close the first day of racing in third position. Only a crazy exit from France in the fourth and last sleeve prevented ours from ending the day in a much more comfortable position. But you know, in SailGP everything can change in a matter of seconds... they went out all over the Blue Coast. In the first two races of the day, the Spaniards went from less to more and, after two good exits, they showed that they can compete from you to anyone. Diego Botín did not shake his pulse to impose on Denmark and the current leader of SailGP, New Zealand at the last buoy, thus starting the event with an excellent third place. He also did not hesitate in the second race, in which he repeated gestures, this time in front of Emirates GBR.

It all went on the last sleeve. France appeared out of nowhere crossing the presalid drawer and revolutionized the poultry, throwing several F50 out of the area. Spain, which at that time hastened its options to go through the far point of the first buoy, could not maneuver in time and was forced to turn around to return to the exit. From there, the back-up was impossible. The Spain SailGP Team did not add any points. We'll have to get back to 100% tomorrow.

2025-09-11: Spain SailGP with no margin of error in Saint-Tropez

A bad result in French waters would complicate the presence of the Spanish SailGP team in the Grand Finale of Abu Dabi... the competition will implement in this weekend's Grand Prix new rudders and automated software to provide more security to the F50 and enhance its performance

At the beginning of the new SailGP season, back in November last year, the team led by Diego Botín marked a clear goal for the current edition of the international championship of flying catamarans: to keep the record of last year in the great prizes to be always as high as possible and to repeat presence in the great final of the competition.

The course has been advanced and, to date, the Spain SailGP Team has been collecting disparate results, as was the case last season. In the absence of four events to finish the competition, the Botín are fourth in the global classification and have two great awards (San Francisco and New York), the same ones they won in season 4 - they could still improve that record. However, the team needs more, because the Great Final seems to be much more expensive than ever. Australia and New Zealand command the classification of SailGP with iron hand, and so far, nothing new. But Dylan Fletcher's Great Britain, which has been super competitive all year round, threatens the dream of Los Gallos. The British, who accused Ben Ainslie of leaving in the middle of the season last year, are third in general with 56 points, two more than ours. Of course, it's not an insurmountable advantage, but the rival is hard to roer.

From behind is the France of Quentin Delapierre, which comes from winning in Germany and is now competing at home. Despite not having been able to participate in the first two events of the championship and having suffered a number of technical failures, the Gauls have been stepping hard. So things, the margin of error is getting smaller. After adding two sixth places in Portsmouth and Sassnitz, Spain needs a good result on the Blue Coast to stay in the fight or even assault the third square.
