The Andalusian Santiago Montero and Gonzalo Capela shine with Tarifa in the world of Kitesurf
Tarifa again showed that it is the world cradle of the kitesurf hosting the GKA 2025 Youth World Championship, where over 60 young international promises were measured in the disciplines of Kite-Surf and Freestyle. Among the great winners of the week were the Andalusian Santiago Montero (CN Sevilla) and Gonzalo Capela (CD Isla Canela Kite), who proclaimed themselves champions of the world in their respective categories, consolidating Andalusia as a reference in the kitesurf quarry.
Santiago Montero rose with the title in the sub-16 category of Kite-Surf, imposing himself with authority in a competition marked by the high international level. His consistency, technique and ability to perform clean and powerful maneuvers placed him at the top of the podium ahead of the Brazilian Pedro Alexandre and also the Spanish Juan Moreno.
Another of the major protagonists was Gonzalo Capela, who, at only 12 years old, crowned the world champion sub-14 in the Freestyle mode. His unhooked, wide-ranging, and precise landings allowed him to overcome the Australian Henry Gerhardt and the Spanish Carlos Montans Quirce in a vibrant ending. Montans also took a second place in the Strapness mode.
