Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team, the only Spanish representative at the 44Cup, has concluded in the tenth position the World Cup disputed in Scheveningen, after four days of extreme conditions in the North Sea, with rachas that exceeded 35 knots and a field of races of maximum demand. Monegasque Nika has been proclaimed the fifth time RC44 World Champion. In this scenario, the team signed a fifth place in one of the toughest sleeves of the championship, as well as several first mounted in barlovento, confirming that it can navigate at the same rate as the head teams and continue to consolidate its progression in the class. The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team develops this project with the support of Tourism of Lanzarote and the Art, Culture and Tourism Centres of the Lanzarote Cabildo, along with Calero Marinas and Calmar as strategic partners. In addition, it has EquipYacht and Alegre Travels in the provision of equipment and logistics, and with the technical support of Harken, Gottifredi Maffioli, North Sails and Magic Marine, as well as the international sponsorship of Lanzarote Investment and John D. Wood & Co.
The 2025 season of the 44Cup will end in Marina Jandia, Fuerteventura, from November 19 to 23, the new sports marina of Calero Marinas, where the Spanish team is confident to take advantage of its accumulated experience to sign its best result of the year.
2025-08-31: Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team: continues its progress in the 44Cup World Cup

The second part of the World waters of Scheveningen, in the Netherlands, in which twelve ships are involved
The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team faces in Scheveningen the 44Cup World Cup as the only ship with Spanish flag in a fleet of twelve international teams. A quote marked by the demand of the Dutch race field, where the current, the wind roles and the sudden weather variations have tested the entire fleet in a day of opening with collisions, incidents and winds that reached over 35 knots.
The Spanish project is presented as a projection platform for national talent, with a crew that combines veteran profiles with a palmaris of international titles and young sailors already consecrated. In addition, the ground team, led by Pablo Rosano, brings a differential value thanks to its experience in the Spanish Sailing Challenge 2007 with Iberdrola and its current role in the SailGP elite circuit.
Although the results of the first two days have not allowed to repeat the podium reached in the training race, the team has shown that the ship runs and that it is able to measure from you to you with the rest of the fleet, including the most veteran and laureate teams. The extreme conditions have been decisive - with torrential chuccos and rachas of more than 30 knots that even forced to cancel the last manga of Friday - but the general classification remains very open: more than half of the championship remains to be disputed and the points margins are minimal.
The Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team is developing this project thanks to the support of Lanzarote Tourism and the Cabildo de Lanzarote Art, Culture and Tourism Centres, which accompany the team under the Spanish flag. To this institutional support are added Calero Marinas and Calmar as strategic partners in port and logistics management. The team also has EquipYacht as a supplier of technical regatta equipment and Alegra Travel in the coordination of travel logistics. In the technical section, the team relies on EquipYacht, Harken, Gottifredi Maffioli, North Sails and Magic Marine as official suppliers, along with the international sponsorship of Lanzarote Investment and John D. Wood & Co.
2025-08-28: Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team: starts the 44Cup with good sensations

The Lanzarote Calero Marine Sailing Team in action in Dutch waters
Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team has started with good sensations the 44Cup World Cup, after finishing in third position the official training race held on Wednesday in Scheveningen waters.
The team has completed three days of preparation focused on reading the tide and adapting to the strong local currents, with the aim of adjusting the maneuvers to the race field to be found during the competition. The absence of major incidents on the ship has allowed work to be dedicated to tactical optimization and to precision in collective maneuvers.
During the race, the lateral current required a very precise planning of the laylines, forcing to anticipate the spins to compensate for the downfall and reach with clean angles to barlovent. In the soups, the counter-corrient stops the hull from below while the wind pushes from above which conditions the speed.
In the coming days, the Lanzarote Calero Sailing Team also provides for the possible inclusion of a tenth crew member as a guest of hospital, who would be located in the aft area. Their presence would add an extra conditioner to the management of on-board weights, modifying the seat of the ship and forcing the crew to plan in more detail the movements of the crew to maintain efficiency in both dyed and stern.
