Juande Ruano Medal to Naval Merit

The Ministry of Defence, on the proposal of the Admiral-in-Chief of the Navy, has had to grant the Cross to the Naval Merit to the former conserved deputy and professor of sociology at the University of Coruña Juande Ruano. Ruano was a vowel in the Commission for the Defence of the Congress of Deputies, being the Member who carried out the most parliamentary initiatives to be approved in favour of the Spanish Navy.

All of its initiatives have been aimed at promoting the culture of defence, as well as the principles and values of the armed forces embodied in the life and actions of illustrious Spanish military. Among those who have had special media significance are, among others, his request for the commemoration of the anniversary of the Spanish sailor and hero Blas de Lezo and Olavarrieta, that of the Andalusian sailor and scientist Jorge Juan, or that of the marine and the inventor of the CartagJanuary Isaac Peral.
